Falconfeather found this all rather embarrassing. She had missed Ryepaw, which actually was a shock. The brown tabby had been so determined that it was going to work, that he wouldn't be fast enough, that . Really, the part that made her want to hide her head with shame, is that she went easy on him and it allowed him to escape. For an untrained apprentice, he was really good. Much better than she had expected. And it was frankly just as embarrassing as one would think. To nearly be bested by an apprentice was unfortunate. At least the cliffs were pretty much empty. No one was close enough to watch her fail. Falconfeather blinked out the thoughts. Shut up brain. You already had your fun. Fun. Yeah, freaking her out was fun.

She hadn't fallen yet. And she wouldn't fall again. All her stress came from an imagined mistake that hadn't yet occurred. Of course, it was a mistake that could easily happen, but she had been given enough time to think of a better way to escape from failure. She could feel his weight shifting in the air, but she had jumped too high to just roll out of the way. It was a pain to be stuck in such a way. But Falconfeather wasn't a vain idiot who thought they could get out of everything. No. She knew there was no way she wasn't going to get hit, but that didn't mean she would let it screw her up. Loosening up her paws and legs, she concentrated on evening out her weight, so that when he landed on her back she would be able to land without falling. Falling. Immediately she did the best she could to dropping to the ground. If Ryepaw landed on her back, she'd roll onto the side, leaving him to be smushed under her weight.
