The young kit stared blankly at the other kit until she turned and stared straight back. Petalkit was surprised by the sudden acknowledgement but the onnly sign she let show was a flick of her ears as they snapped forward alertly. Her head cocked just slightly but her eyes maintained their flat expression, taking everything in but letting nothing out. That one must be Mothkit. The kit wandered over looking directly at her. She'd said hello but Petalkit decided to keep her mouth closed and wait for the she-kit's next words to judge what exactly the kit was after.
Do I want to play? Play felt foreign to Petalkit; she saw the other kits doing it but she didn't understand the point of it. They all looked ridiculously clumsy, though it did look like fun; she just didn't know if she could find the same enjoyment knowing how ridiculous it looked to do. She mulled over how she should answer,
Do I want
to play? How do I say no? Or maybe if I say yes...but how does that go? Even as she pondered what to say, her expression remained even and unreadable. In the end, Burningkit saved her from having to come up with any answer. One ear flicked to the side as she caught her sister's voice. She turned her head to watch the other she-kit go off then turned back as Mothkit returned the energy before storming off. She couldn't make sense of most of what Mothkit was going on about. Having friends seemed nice but was it really worth it? What benefit did it serve? As Mothkit left, Petalkit took a deep breath and turned to Burningkit.
"We maybe could've been nicer. I don't think she was hurting anything. She's just a bit strange."
