Re: The Thunderwillow
Cindersky - mainly just a reaction post!
The kind words spoken by Rainhound fluttered a peace in her heart. It was... nice to hear, after everything. Cindersky had never sought out a position of power within her Clan, she had only meant to help serve them as she had vowed to do so during her own warrior ceremony. "Thank you, Rainhound. You have as well." Not forgotten was how confident the young she-cat had leapt onto the Thunderwillow following Dawnstar pulling ShadowClan from ThunderClan, and a glimmer of pride shone in her eyes.
What startled her out of her gaze with Rainhound was the feeling of sharp eyes on her. Lifting her head she blinked, confused at what appeared to be annoyance coming strongly from... Nectarflame? Cindersky had done her best to voice to the Clan what she knew to be true about the golden bengal, but it did not appear as though her intention was discovered.
Cindersky only watched as, jaw set, Nectarflame moved forward to give Brightpaw their name. A thorn pierced her heart as it fell further into her paws, and a wave of guilt washed over her. It was difficult, but she managed to keep her emotions in check and her eyes did not betray any of what she felt. There would be time to untangle the mess that had become her and the golden bengal; for now she would have to be content with ice.
Brightpaw. It was a beautiful name, and held a special meaning. Smiling towards the new warrior, Cindersky dipped her head towards her with a purr. Hopefully they would continue to fulfil what their name called of them; padding down a bright path.
Not lost on her during this was the tear-filled look given by Bumblepaw, and Cindersky spared a glance towards the young tom. She returned the soft smile and a gentle nod as if to acknowledge his emotions. Houndspirit had deserved it.
Next up was Cornpaw - Cindersky held no objection for Nectarflame naming both - but surprised fluttered across her composed expression as Cornpaw mouthed words to her. He wanted her to name him? While it did stir a bit of warmth in her heart, she remained silent as Nectarflame continued. She knew that the two had a rocky relationship to patch up - and hopefully, this might be the first step towards doing so. Even still, she gave a small, encouraging nod towards the apprentice as if to say it was alright.
Cornfuzz. What a name, for such a special tom. Cindersky smiled at the choice, glad that both of the names Nectarflame had given were reflective of the hearts of each cat. Her eyes glimmered with the same hope she had held in her heart after the battle. ThunderClan truly was healing. His little good humored retort towards Nectarflame served to twitch her whiskers in amusement, but Cindersky stifled any laughter other than a small smile.
After the new warriors were named, cheers rousing the crowd into a more lively, celebratory bunch, Cindersky turned her head back to one cat in particular - just in time to see them reach out towards her. Surprise registered for only a second before he opened her paws to receive the hug. It was clear that some sort of emotional turmoil had torn into Stagbound, and she was more than happy to offer whatever condolences she could.
"Congratulations, Stagbound," she murmured to the young cat, embracing him in a hug before stepping back after she was sure he would be alright. Her eyes shone with an understanding as she nodded softly. She gestured with a paw for Stagbound to return to the line of new warriors, as there were still a few who had yet to be named.
It was easy to detect the emotions that rolled off of other cats - Cindersky had her parents intuitive nature to thank for that - and her eyes quickly found Emberpaw. A blink and a feeling of empathy lit within her and she made a note to check on the young she-cat after everything was said and done. It seemed as though Rainhound had the same idea, so hopefully the two could settle any issues before they grew into something more.
Next up was Sparrowflight, who decided to take on Crowpaw and Snakepaw. They were both young, but had displayed explementary courage in the battle for the cove, deserving of a warrior name. She waited with excitement as they were given their names; Crowfire and Snakechaser. Her smile only grew as she nodded her head to both warriors in acknowledgement.
From somewhere in the crowd a voice rose up to her ears, mainly because it held her name. Sifting through the crowd Cindersky recognized Darkpetal. Her? Leader? The thought alone sounded preposterous, and surely not one the entire Clan held. Regardless, there would be time after the ceremonies to address such concerns, so for now she simply offered a flick of her ear and a dismissive dip of her head. Her gaze tried to convey that while she appreciated the sentiment, it was a matter for another time as she returned her attention to Jaystride, the last cat to be naming.
