I glanced at the files before picking them up and placing them on a table that had I picked out earlier. I turn to her, letting some real curiosity poke through the mask. “Cate to explain what you mean by non-humans?” I say, pulling out a chair, one for her, one for me. As I sit I begin to rifle through the files. I don’t let my shock and bewilderment show as I realize most of them are, indeed, not human at all. I do decide to make a quip about one consistent thing I read in the files. “So are you just that cocky and reckless to let them keep finding bodies, or are you just not good at disposing of them?” I say, putting a note of amused contempt in my voice.

I mean back in my chair. “Also, mind telling me what you are? And don’t bother telling me you’re a human, sweetheart, I saw your tail, and got a glimpse of your eyes back there when we were having our . . . pleasant chat under the street lamps.” I ask casually. “Don’t bother lying either, I know how to tell a truth from a lie, part of my training.” I say, unbothered.

"oh- well... i'm half human half... salamander? most people think i am half demon. i'm not... but, the stupid ones, who act like you, think so. i know that's a mask... that you don't act like that," she said, before they got their drinks. "and, if i let them find the bodies, they fear me more..." she stared at him, before sipping her drink. "so... you want to know about... your majesty? here, read through this." her eyes moved back to the bag. "i work for the queen as well, as their daughter, frisca, is one of my best friends."
