"Rabbitbriar, Rabbitbriar!" Fallownose called energetically as Twilightstar named the new warrior. It had been much too long since an apprentice had become a warrior, but now they would finally be able to announce it at the next Gathering. It made the deputy prideful that despite not having a new warrior in many moons, WindClan remained strong and managed to (somewhat) beat ShadowClan out of their territory.
The following announcement explained the new faces and scents among the crowd. Many cats seemed to be looking to break away from their old Clan, and WindClan was the most suitable choice. Fallownose believed it was good that former warriors and apprentices wanted to join WindClan out of all their options.
Bugpaw didn't concern him too much, and while he wouldn't put it past Dawnstar to try and place a spy in WindClan, he didn't think she would use an apprentice or attempt it at this moment in time. While the gray tom didn't understand why she did what she did most of the time, there was some logic to her actions, and placing a spy in WindClan after declaring neutrality didn't seem like something the tyrant would do.
Rookscreech was who he was more worried about. Fallownose could understand why warriors would want to get out from under Dawnstar's paws, but Twilightstar's words made him a little uncomfortable. Had she fought on ShadowClan's side before, and if so, would she genuinely remain loyal to WindClan? However, just because he was wary didn't mean the tom wouldn't do his best to make them welcome into the Clan. He trusted Twilightstar's judgment, and if she believed they would be good additions to the Clan, he would accept that and do his best to ensure it ended that way.
He gave the same reasoning for Albatrossflare- now Vulturesnow- even if the same thoughts would apply. Though it was more concern about his alleged actions in ThunderClan that were violent than him being a spy, there wasn't a point for ThunderClan to try that. As long as the warrior didn't harm his Clanmates, Vulturesnow would have no reason to feel the deputy's wrath or gain his distrust.
Fallownose dipped his head in acknowledgment as Twilightstar ordered him to take the new additions out on a hunting patrol after the meeting. For all the good, there was always going to be wrong, and it seemed that the current case was the lack of reporting, whether it be about patrols or to the leader directly. The deputy glanced around as he memorized the new faces to know who to look for once Twilighstar dismissed the meeting before returning to listen to the rest of the announcements.
Wolffang's lack of presence had concerned Fallownose, but the gray tom had been too busy dealing with patrols and punishments to focus on the whispers running through the camp. Now he wished he had, as it seemed the former deputy was dead. It would be a significant loss to WindClan as Wolffang had been a good deputy and highly respected warrior. He had contributed much to the Clan, and Fallownose would miss his guidance. Patcheye was also dead, and while he hadn't known him as well as Wolffang, it was still sad to see a member of the Clan go, though he knew it was StarClan's will as Patcheye had been an elder.
After a moment of silence to grieve the fallen warrior and elder, Twilighstar hopped off the rock in an apparent dismissal of the meeting. Fallownose took this chance to call to the cats who had recently joined the Clan so they could start the hunting patrol.
"Vulturesnow, Rookscreech, Shadowheart, and Streampelt, gather here, and we'll head out on the hunting patrol."
