As the child lay tightly coiled into a ball of sadness in her nest, she felt a cat come close to her. It wasn't Olivemama, was it? The kitten felt her fur rise, and she could smell her own fear-scent. It was a big Nurserycat. Giving up on her attempt to stay asleep, she instinctively raised her paws to cover her head. "Please Mama... I'm sorry!" It was Mama. Mama was here to hit her more.

She felt herself shaking almost too hard to talk as she rolled over. But didnt see the tall, pretty tortoiseshell that was her adoptive Mama, it was a different, calico cat. She tried to calm herself, but her jaw and everything was shaking too hard. It was all so scary, and she was just so tired of not being allowed to tell anyone or cry about it. The kitten burst into tears, her sobs coming out wet and ragged. "I-I j-ju-just w-w-wish s-s-sh-she d-d-did-didn't h-hit m-m-me a-a-all th-the t-t-ti-time." She covered her bruised face with her violently shaking paws. She just missed her Daddy. She wanted to stop being scared and hurt all the time.
