Ashpaw was relieved that Copperfire wasn't angry with him, but he still felt like he failed something. Would the deputy choose him again in another patrol? He hoped so. He had so much still to learn, but these patrols were a great opportunity to do so and he liked walking through Thunderclan territory. He reminded himself to search for a warrior who could take him out and make a whole territory tour. Why hadn't Darkpetal organized one before? Hee thought his mentor looked a bit distracted these days, even during the hunting patrol. Maybe Bumbleflight would be happy if Ashpaw asked him.
He dipped his head to Copperfire, before reaching Flamepaw and purring a greeting for his friend.
Flamepaw led the way to the apprentices' den and Ashpaw followed, glad that they could talk in peace at the shade of ferns. Maybe we should take some piece of prey to the elders and then eat something... but I guess there's nothing wrong in taking a little break first.
After stretching, he lay down and lashed his tail to shake off the tension he was still feeling for Copperfire's reproach, even if it wasn't intended for him.
"So... how was your patrol? Did you catch anything?" he asked cheerfully, but he was sure Flamepaw had done really well. Ashpaw was still wondering if he should tell her his unfortunate meeting with the crow... Was the little cut visible? He hoped not, but didn't dare glancing at his chest. Flamepaw purred softly at Ashpaw's greeting, they had so much to talk about, what was his patrol like? What did he catch? What did he see? But all those questions would have answers soon enough. Laying down in her nest, the she-cat took some time to clean her paws, freeing them from the grass and dirt she gathered on her patrol. Now that she thought about it, it made her want to go on another patrol! Feeling the fresh grass beneath her paws and getting to meet cats that belonged to other Clans such as Snowypaw felt great. One day, she'd see Snowypaw, as a warrior, at a Gathering. But of course, that day won't be anytime soon, Snowypaw looked to be younger than Flamepaw.
Turning her attention back to Ashpaw, Flamepaw couldn't help but chuckle, "The patrol was really fun! I didn't catch anything though... I was on a border patrol. Specifically, the Thunderglade. And I met a WindClan apprentice there! His name was... Snowypaw, I believe. I think it was his first patrol too!"
Excitement bubbled in her, perhaps she could go on another patrol when patrols are called out again. But alas, only time would be able to tell. Everyone in the Clan (or everyone that is able) has to be on a patrol at least once in their lives... right? Probably, though Flamepaw would have to go on more patrols to find out.
"How did your patrol go? You went on a hunting one, right? Did you catch anything?" the tom probably did, he had more experience in that area than her, so he had to of caught something! Flamepaw sat and waited, her tail lightly thumping the ground in a way for the orange and white tabby to contain her excitement.
