These cats have no sense of duty, of- of responsibility for their actions or rather - inactions! He flexed his claws once before taking a calming breath. It wouldn't do well to take his frustration out on the one cat that actually did as asked. As ordered!

"Thank you, Flamepaw. You're more competent than some of our warriors, it seems. I'd have preferred it if you asked a warrior or me to accompany you when Russetflare failed to do so, but I'm glad you're safe. Next time do inform me or any other warrior if the warrior assigned to join you doesn't show up." The deputy acknowledged Flamepaw with a stiff tone, trying to keep his emotions in check. He let out a deep breath to get himself to relax a little more and continued with less forced calmness. "Patrols are supposed to teach you how to be a good warrior. If your patrol leader fails to do so, it impacts you unfairly. I'm sure you'll be a good warrior in spite of Russetflare's failings, your dedication to making up for this wrong is a good quality. You're dismissed."

Alright, that's enough of being honest and nice. It's time to put his foot down and really drive it home that patrols are important. Now he just needs to find a way to do that while either having Sparrowstar's blessing or help.

Flamepaw didn't know whether to be proud that she had shown up (unlike her other Clanmates- and friend!). Ashpaw was called for his punishment, but never fulfilled it, so he would definitely be reprimanding him for that. It wasn't her job to do so, but it might give him a warning in case Copperfire brings that issue to Sparrowstar. I'll bring it up to him when I see him next. I'll give him a good talking to. Flamepaw was... what? Only a moon younger than Ashpaw? Yes. Yes, she was. But that didn't stop her from thinking about reprimanding her friend. After all, his ceremony could be delayed and it would ruin them both to not sleep in the same den.

"Oh- um, thanks, Copperfire," she finally spoke, dipping her head in acknowledgment of her compliment. "I doubt I will, but if I ever do get in trouble again, I'll make sure someone goes with me next time!"

Well, it seemed like her punishment was over, so the large she-cat dipped her head once more and padded away to sleep in her den. I still have to worry about my assessment and reprimand Ashpaw... the young she-cat shuddered at the thought of a furious Copperfire and Sparrowstar. No doubt they would be absolutely furious- perhaps even give them a more serious punishment.
