Beetleblaze didn't enjoy seeing the frustration in his apprentices face, but he understood the importance of that feeling pushing him forward to overcome his mistake. His face got slightly sterner as he accepted Cloverpaw's resolve and tried to match his intensity. He was about to answer him when Flickerpaw finally burst through the heather and into the training moor. Beetleblazes emerald eyes bounced over to the new arrival who seemed out of breath. The little toms sides were heaving slightly lending his story a bit of credibility, but it had taken a while. Did he stay and listen to the meeting before following us? He does seem pretty tired.
The warrior was about to ask him a question when Floatingleaf chimed in about the sparring. Well, it can wait. I'm sure it's nothing too serious, he wasn't that late after all. With that thought tucked away he turned back to Cloverpaw who was waiting, tense and expectant. "We can practice it more later, there will be plenty of time. Right now we should focus on partner fighting, and honing your teamwork with Flickerpaw while he is available." Beetelblaze raised his head so that one eye was also on the other apprentice. He made sure to keep his voice level and serious hinting at the importance of the words which began to fall from his lips.
"As apprentices it's particularly important to be able to rely on teamwork in a battle, there will be cats who are bigger, stronger, and more experienced than yourselves. The one thing that will set you apart in such a situation other than your bravery is how well you can coordinate attacks with your partner and use numbers to your advantage." The tall tan tom moved away from his apprentice over to his white-brown coated peer whose scent of blackberries wafted over him bringing back that same previous feeling of calm as in the clearing before.
He set himself up beside her shoulder to shoulder ready to give a demonstration of partner fighting. He turned his head towards her, and for a brief moment he felt a flicker of nerves as he looked into her deep green eyes. He became very self aware of just how close he was to Floatingleaf, but it was not at all unpleasant. "A-nything you'd like to add?" He asked with slight stutter.

She looked at Beetleblaze as he asked her a question. Smiling as she answered she said.
"No, I um think you covered it all, and you are totally right it is an amazing skill to know,.especially for us smaller cats. So I think maybe you guys try to attack us and we will defend, but don't worry this will be simple and just demonstrative not a real full on training. Alright.?" She looked at Beetleblaze for a confirmation of this idea.
