Beetleblaze pondered Floatingleafs words for a moment as she looked to him for confirmation. He racked his brain at lightning speed trying to think of a way to correct her while saving face, he didn't wish to make her feel bad by calling her out in front of her apprentice. He simply nodded to her before turning to his own apprentice once he had settled on a solution.
"Cloverpaw you will attack us first. Floatingleaf and I are going to show you how to utilize the technique properly. Partner fighting is about using a 2 on 1 advantage." The tom made sure he was standing shoulder to shoulder with Floatingleaf and lowered his body to match her height.
"As you attack us we will retreat together as a unit, matching our pawsteps to one another."
Beetleblaze cast his emerald eyes in the direction of Flickerpaw,
"Watch how we handle Cloverpaw closley. The basic idea is that when he is forced to attack one of us, the cat being attacked will simply avoid it by retreating further back. The other cat will take advantage of the opening to swipe back at Cloverpaw. So if Cloverpaw attacks me I will fall back further to avoid the blow while Floatingleaf will go on the offensive and swipe him while he is off balance." Beetleblaze felt the words trickle slowly out as he struggled to express the things he knew as a warrior but had never needed to explain.
"If your enemy turns to run simply split up and surround them."
StarClan help me, I hope I explained all of that properly, He fretted. The tan warrior readied himself, his long form was backed up slightly so that his head was even with Floatingleafs, and neither cats was in front of the other.
"All right Cloverpaw, attack us when your ready."
