ReedKit happened to slip away from his mother and sisters who

The melanistic feline startled slightly - fur bristling just a tad, not noticing the appearance of the kit until they had said a quick greeting.
Their head shifted slowly, allowing them to gaze down at the kit, slightly quirking a brow. They visibly perked at the appearance of the youngster, offering their signature lopsided grin, then slanted their cranium to observe the feline briefly as they greeted the kit back, "greetings youngling!" They chirped, yet it was a tad raspy due to their aged vocal cords, earning a subtle wince from the elderly feline - they hadn't expected their voice to be so raucous, yet they quickly recovered by clearing their throat, exhaling softly to seem less awkward.
They shifted, raising their cranium back to its neutral height as they had subconsciously lowered it to soften their tall frame - to appear more approachable, in a sense. They blinked, their optics quickly flitting away as they pondered briefly, "I bet ya came here for a tale, huh?" Raven remarked in a playful - less raspy than before - tone, one side of their mouth tips turning upward in a slight, lopsided smile.
They chuckled heartily, then lifted a paw as their laughter quickly died down to a short snort, then silence. They grazed their spined tongue along the rougher bits of their forelimb fur - smoothing it down as they waited for the kit to reply, certainly in no rush.
