--A cold wind blew, pulling at his whiskers. Orion stilled in their walking, looking back over their shoulder into the wind. They quickly tasted it for anything, but could not pick up any worthy scents coming from that direction. It was true, then. The plains truly were worthless for hunting. She waited a few moments, carried off in the sight behind her. It felt unnatural here. Xe knew the rumors about how this place came to be. Perhaps it was true, or maybe it was just his instincts finding little trust in an area with few trees.
Speaking of instinct, Orion felt the need to just run. He turned their gaze back to the grass before them, his eyes narrowing. She knew that there were a few tree stumps out here. To run until xe finds one would be exhilarating, and maybe they'd burn some energy they would've spent hunting. Orion began walking, building speed until they were racing and weaving in the tall grass. When she spotted a tree stump, instead of slowing down, she leaped and stood atop it, gazing at the top of the grass. The cold bit into them a bit harsher now that she was out of the shelter of grass, but Orion didn't mind. Not for the view. The expanse was oddly startling.
Orion's flanks heaved as he regained his breath in the cold air. They wondered where to go next. To the Roaring Lake? No, they heard a thunderpath cut off access there. Orion sat down to think. The Twolegplace? But xe didn't feel like meeting talkative kittypets at the moment. Or they did? Orion sighed. What she really needed was to find some nice fresh-kill. They'd promised themselves not to eat the smelly things in the tall...whatevers again.
