--A cold wind blew, pulling at his whiskers. Orion stilled in their walking, looking back over their shoulder into the wind. They quickly tasted it for anything, but could not pick up any worthy scents coming from that direction. It was true, then. The plains truly were worthless for hunting. She waited a few moments, carried off in the sight behind her. It felt unnatural here. Xe knew the rumors about how this place came to be. Perhaps it was true, or maybe it was just his instincts finding little trust in an area with few trees.
Speaking of instinct, Orion felt the need to just run. He turned their gaze back to the grass before them, his eyes narrowing. She knew that there were a few tree stumps out here. To run until xe finds one would be exhilarating, and maybe they'd burn some energy they would've spent hunting. Orion began walking, building speed until they were racing and weaving in the tall grass. When she spotted a tree stump, instead of slowing down, she leaped and stood atop it, gazing at the top of the grass. The cold bit into them a bit harsher now that she was out of the shelter of grass, but Orion didn't mind. Not for the view. The expanse was oddly startling.
Orion's flanks heaved as he regained his breath in the cold air. They wondered where to go next. To the Roaring Lake? No, they heard a thunderpath cut off access there. Orion sat down to think. The Twolegplace? But xe didn't feel like meeting talkative kittypets at the moment. Or they did? Orion sighed. What she really needed was to find some nice fresh-kill. They'd promised themselves not to eat the smelly things in the tall...whatevers again.

Mamba
Mamba skunk out onto the plains, shivering slightly in the cold wind, though her manner seemed very casual and carefree, as if it was completely normal to be out on the plains in the freezing cold. She still walked with that jaunty, self assured air, and there was a crooked smirk on her face as she scanned the plains. There had to be something her to ease her boredom. She had just eaten a sparrow not more than an hour ago, and now that she was full and content, she wanted some action. There was nothing more thrilling than good ol’ adrenaline rushing through your veins.
Unfortunately there didn’t seem to be much out here on the plains, and Mamba shrugged as she continued forward. From what she could see, it was empty— wait a second, was that another cat? Mamba immediately brightened up, and she raced towards the stranger, skidding to a stop and pausing for a second to catch her breath. “Hey there!” She gushed energetically. “I was jus’ about to give up on findin’ somethin’ to do out here!” She exclaimed, fixing the gold and black cat with a mischievous look. “Was jus’ gonna go find some trouble to get into. Nothing like a little danger to get the chill outta your veins!” She said, green eyes gleaming. “Wanna join??”
