His mind became disorganized after hearing what Cinderpaw had said back there as he tried to process everything. His blue eyes were hazy as he marched back into his camp, his thoughts elsewhere.
Having fun with my kits in the snow? He realized how many kits he had that were
not missing. Flameheart was present, but she has matured into a warrior (but still partially young compared to others). And now she was a keeper to add to her already-heavy workload. Quietpaw, perhaps, but he doubts she'd enjoy playing in the snow. How could he make things amusing, especially with him, when he can't even get along with his own kin? Rainpaw, on the other hand, he was incapable of doing so. Given his potential neglect of them,
him, he lacks the courage to confront his own son directly. To be honest, he struggled with remorse for nearly a full moon.
Then, in a truly bizarre turn of events, he was promoted to deputy. Cinderpaw, of all the cats, was the one who advised him to speak with his family. Spend time with them and talk to them in a meaningful way. He regretted being so reserved because he could have done it when he was a warrior. He had realized that his duties as a deputy had limited some of his mental abilities. He could become engrossed in the feeling of half-loathing his responsibilities. Truly strange and repulsive. It was unpleasant to consider as a small, quiet snarl emerged from his maw. He was incapable of even believing he was right in the situation.
How many Thunderclan cats vanish each moon? The numbers that could accumulate and queue up in his mind were beyond his comprehension.
He looked at Sundust, displaying the bare minimum they could find, and wished they could have gotten something fresher. Greener then the environment in which they normally live. He could only stammer a few words through the barrier and maw of the sticks he was carrying, which included two sticks and a gently wrapped cobwebbed stick.
"Sorry that he couldn't find anything much more than some dull sticks and cobwebs, having much more than just these would be ultimately better." He mewed, then patiently waited for the medicine cat's response. He hoped Cinderpaw wouldn't be too keen on it if he went to talk to Rainpaw right away. He does not want anyone to be too concerned. He would be happy even if he could only improve their relationship slightly, perhaps even by a percentage. He lowered his voice to a barely audible whisper and turned to face Cinderpaw.
"And thank you Cinderpaw for informing me, I'll be sure to head on over right away."
