The New League: Roleplay [Revived!]
Welcome to Freeland City!
It’s been fifteen years since the reign of Chainbreaker, and society is slowly recovering, thanks to the leadership of Rigor and The League!
Sure, there are still some troubles and problems that happen now and then, not all villains disappeared with Chainbreaker, after all, but what is a society that doesn’t have its own unique quirks?
Things are better than they’ve been for a long time, and that’s ultimately what matters.

Victory Day is here! Should we be on alert for attack?

It has been fifteen years since the defeat of Chainbreaker and the end of the Age of Uncertainty. Life has seemingly returned to normal, or has it?
Recently, there has been an uprise of murders and small-time crime, causing the citizens of Freeland to wonder if Freeland City is as safe as we think it is.
One of our informants, who refuses to reveal their name, has some information on what may be to come on this day meant for celebration and peace.
“The world has changed a lot in fifteen years, and Gifteds are no longer ostracized or forced into hiding, causing more and more powerful Gifteds to reveal themselves. In my opinion, these so-called ‘heroes’ will be the end of us all!
We just seem to be bending down to whomever is in power, which is not good! How do we know the Gifteds have us, the majority of the population (Non-Gifteds) in mind when they do these things? What if they are bitter and still mean to destroy us for not accepting them so long ago?
In my opinion, we need to stop their reign of ‘peace’ before it becomes a reign of terror and massacre!”
Victory Day is Here!
Happy Victory Day to each and every one of you! Today should be a day of celebration and peace, so all patrol units shall be operating on hybrid schedules. Only if you are called in should you be out on patrol. All New League Gifteds are encouraged to treat today as a vacation day and to take advantage of all the events that Victory Day has to offer!
Nonetheless, we must be on our guard, as there has been some gossip going around, perpetuated by a certain newspaper, that there might be a dangerous uprising today. Of course, it is not actually expected to happen, but we can never be too careful. Keep your eyes open for any suspicious activities and try to avoid lonely alleys. Some of our population, Gifted and not, might have been stirred by the articles put out today, and we don’t want any of our New League members getting hurt on this day that is supposed to bring peace.
A press conference is being held in the mass meeting room this afternoon, no League members are allowed to attend unless they have special clearance. This conference pertains to the recent murders in the area and the New League’s plan to catch the murderer(s). A written transcript will most likely be provided in current newspapers tomorrow morning if anyone is curious to know what transpired.
Stay on your guard, and have a happy Victory Day!

Morning:
This morning, a large parade in the New League and the League of Four’s honor is to be held outside of the New League tower! The floats will include:
The Original Four- A float where the League of Four’s original costumes will be set up for all to see and pay reverence. Pictures of each deceased Hero’s face will be displayed below their costumes, while Rigor will sit at the head in his original armor, wings, and costume!
The League Tribute- Following The Four is an equally splendid float dedicated to each and every member of the New League! The League Emblem is the center of attention, and it is made of up to six thousand roses, each with the Alias of a New League Gifted tied to their stem! This is truly a floral wonder!
The Trial of The Ages- This interesting float follows The Tribute. Made to look like the Event Center stadium, where the Hero Trials are held, this float will occasionally explode in color and shape top, as six New League Gifteds with visual powers will occasionally send spurts of light (and in one Gifted’s case, showers of candy) shooting out of the top to amaze onlookers. The design is supposed to look like amazing trials are happening within, and it surely achieves!
The Lost- This float follows The Trial, and it is more dour than those before it. This float has the names of over one hundred thousand people who died in the Age of Uncertainty carved into golden plaques that ring the dark-colored float.
Chainbreaker- This is by far the most anticipated of all the floats- besides The Four, of course- as an actor dressed to look like Chainbreaker sits upon a crumbling throne, poised above the “ruins of Old Freeland City”, is positioned there for the audience’s enjoyment. The audience is encouraged to throw food and light items at “Chainbreaker” and join in with chanting against him. Of course, nothing heavy or with the potential to harm may be thrown at the actor, as he is just that, an actor.
Many more floats follow these, but these are the top five!
Noon:
After the parade, a plethora of activities happen. Including these three most anticipated ones:
The Victory Picnic- Every year on Victory Day, a picnic is held by the Event Center in Freeland Park. Families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, food, yard games, and anything else that seems appropriate to enjoy this wonderful day in the sun. Many Gifteds with the power to affect the weather work long and hard the day before to make sure that Victory Day feels exactly like the nicest of Summer days and not like a cold, bitter February day. The picnic lasts well into the evening, and people may come and go as they please. Local music groups will be playing at the band shell from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, and movies will be shown from 6:30pm to 9:45pm.
The Everyone’s A Hero Trials- Immediately after the Parade, you can make your way down to the Event Center stadium to partake in sports events and tests of skill and mettle in the Everyone’s A Hero Trials! There are games to play, prizes to be won, and chances for even Non-Gifteds to be heroes on this wonderful day! Participants are encouraged to wear Hero costumes of their own creation to partake in these events.
Evening:
After the Everyone’s A Hero Trials end and the last movie plays out on the Event Center lawn, the sky will begin to light up all over as Gifteds with visual powers take to the upper stories of buildings and to balconies to begin this beautiful showcase of light. The light show will last from 10:00pm to 10:20pm, so be sure not to miss it, or you’ll have to wait until next year!

Two Found Dead Days Before Victory Day. Are Villain Syndicates As Dormant As We Think?
By: Jenni Gossiq
(January 31st 2167)
At 3:00am, this morning, a League patrol unit arrived at a neighborhood on the west side of Freeland city to do a routine check-up, when they heard screams and what sounded like a scuffle.
Arriving quickly on the scene, the League patrol was disappointed to find that they’d just missed whoever had caused the commotion, but their disappointment was quickly replaced by horror as they noticed the two still-warm bodies on the ground.
Both bodies showed no signs of injury, though both had faces frozen with horror.
The bodies were taken quickly to the hospital, but they were declared dead before they even were removed from the emergency transport vehicle.
When asked if this could have been caused by rising Villain syndicates, The New League founder, Ryan Patterson (Alias: Rigor) refused to comment, though the patrol members who had found the bodies had a lot to say.
“This was clearly a murder,” Stated one of the patrol members, Rumble, a Gifted with the power to create thunderclouds, “No doubt about it. Though, pinpointing who the murderer- or murderers- was will not be so easy to tell.”
“Like Rumble said, Murder. We can’t disclose any more information at this time, though, sorry,” Wingit, a Gifted with wings on their back, said, looking genuinely apologetic, “My heart goes out to whoever is family to these two victims, I hope we can catch these murderers.”
Octolady, an eight-armed member of the patrol unit, was not so keen to answer any questions,
“We’re strictly forbidden to disclose any more information, and quite frankly, I’m sick of you guys butting in to everything,” She was heard saying to a reporter for “The Freelander” as she led her unit back to the New League Tower.
The other three members of the patrol unit, Haze (A Gifted with the ability to create fog by use of her taking moisture from the air), Quizzical (A Gifted with the ability to confuse enemies with only his words), and Rogue Wave (A Gifted in control of a beast made of water that serves as his companion) offered no comments.

(Mind you, characters should be familiar with their patrol unit in the roleplay, as they are already formed at the beginning of the roleplay. It is encouraged that you discuss how well your unit works together/how close knit your patrol unit is over Private Messages to make patrol interaction as realistic as possible.)
