Two birds on a wire [P]
Vesper Waught
Civilian identity guarded | Phantasia Sia, Tassie | She/Her | New League commons.
Huddled in a corner of her room, made comfortable with the use of covers and pillows from her bed, the young girl had gotten distracted reading a new book she got for her birthday a month prior. Even with the darkening of the sky, she hadn't noticed and kept on reading until the need for a glass of water prompted her to get back up and look at the time. And how late it was - for someone who had to get up early in the mornings, especially. But swept away in the world of flying lizards and dastardly counts, it was hard to notice the time pass, or even feel tired until her eyes had actually lifted off the paper.
Naturally, now that she had been pulled from the unfortunate book, and the tiredness was able to enter her eyes, she had no choice but to move her bedding back to where it belonged and lay her head to rest. It was a shame for her sitting corner, however, perhaps she ought to see if she could get a beanbag sometime in the future. That would be nice. Then at least she wouldn't have to make her bed once again, when really she didn't feel like doing so. But it was either that or sleeping on the floor and frankly, that decision wasn't difficult. After about ten minutes of continues back and forth, her bed was made - and quite nicely so, ready for her to sleep. Sleepiness had long overcome her by now. Vesper wasted little time removing the dark-blue ribbon from her hair so she could brush and braid it. A few more minutes and the girl's hair was done and teeth were brushed. She send a last 'goodnight' message to her aunt (for the guardian awaited one everyday, and she had forgotten to send one earlier) and off to sleep she was.
Or so she thought.
Only a few hours had passed, when she awoke with a start. Frazzled she reached for her phone, thinking some lunatic was ringing her in the wee hours of the morning (lest it be an emergency) but no; her phone screen displayed nothing but the time after she'd pressed it's 'on' button, burning her still tired eyes. With a groan, the usually quite composed girl fell face first back against her pillow, truthfully wanting to ignore the unusual sound. Where did it even come from? Her eyes closed, she listened for a little while. It sounded like... A hoover? What?
This realisation had her perk back up, eyes locking onto the door that, further down, led to a shared common space. She never perceived these walls to be thin enough for sound to pass so clearly, making the difference must be that it's so quiet all around. How peculiar. Someone wouldn't be cleaning at this hour, would they? (Was this normal?) You see, Vesper had only recently moved into the commons. A few weeks ago, actually, though still before the new year had come. She had yet to become familiar with every in and out of living within the commons, she felt, and was quite the reason for her being a bit more on edge than usual lately. She would rather not get in trouble. Still, this seemed like such a peculiar occurrence. You'd think someone living in a city would have gotten used to such sudden sounds, but not quite.
Though a bit reluctantly, she decided to go take a look. Throwing a jacket over her shoulders and sliding her phone inside her pocket, in an easy to reach manner. She wouldn't expect there to be someone that didn't have security clearance, still, one could never be too cautious. That's why she had emergency numbers on quick access. Making her way across the room, as quietly as one could expect from a dreamwalker, pushed the large white door open and peeked through. Though, little could be seen until she left her room (closing the door behind her, of course) and made her way nearer to the commons, where... Oh dear. Was he sleep walking? Quite curiously, she stared for a few seconds. This was an unusual sight - but his eyes seemed to be open.
".. What are you doing?"
She looked quite baffled indeed. What normally was a neutral expression, that showed a friendly smile at most, was now a face of confusion and surprise, brows raised. He was apart of her unit - yes, Covey, was it. How unexpected.
[ @naiad - Since you mentioned he might be caught doing this, thought it could be funny lmk if you'd like anything changed!! ]
