Conflicting emotions crossed Snowybreeze's tired gaze at Ashclaw's offer to help carry Fireflame over him. The older warrior had suffered injuries at the claws of those... those fiends! The cowards had avoided Snowybreeze, running from his strikes and refusing to engage in combat with him at all, even after he had managed to strike them away from Ashclaw in the midst of combat. Yes, Snowybreeze was tired, but... it was only because he had run so fast after combat to bring Fireflame back to camp in time. The weight of an extra cat carried while going at full speed had taken a toll on him. Something that had failed. He wanted to say because he had not been fast enough, but he knew the truth. Fireflame's life had been over before they had found her. Nothing would change that. All he could do was finish what he'd started. Carry her to her final rest while allowing the wounded warrior some reprieve before the burial. And yet...
He did not know how close Ashclaw had been to Fireflame. If they had been friends... could Snowybreeze truly deny the tom taking his friend to her rightful spot amongst WindClan's fallen? Had it been one of his friends - a thought he quickly shunned, unable to cope with it right now - he would have wanted to be the one to carry them to Juniper's Rest. It was only right to allow the same honor to Ashclaw. His gaze growing softer with understanding as his blue orbs landed on the gray tom's similarly colored hues, the massive warrior nodded, allowing his shoulders to slump as Fireflame was taken away. Taking his place behind the two apprentices in case they were attacked on their way to the burial site, Snowybreeze flicked his tail, a quiet signal letting Ashclaw know they were all set and ready to be led away.
