Default Re: The Shadowledge

Smokepaw

Her ears turned and twitched attentivly, angling towards whoever was currently talking as the grey and silver apprentice attempted to listen to everything that was being said. She was young but already on her first proper meeting she has tossed herself into this, and was now eagerly soaking in all the opinions she could hear. Even if she didn't agree with exactly all of them, she wanted to know everything there was to know about this current situation to get the best overview of this new thing and suggestion.

And boy were there a lot of them. One of her clanmates suggested letting Thunderclan do the hunting (the idea of Thunderclan having to hand over the prey did sound a bit amusing to the apprentice), Smokepaw's expression darkened into an irritated frown at the rest of the idea, as Thunderclan would never agree to something like just handing over four of their warriors. There were some other ideas from a few warriors, but Smoke turned a deaf ear to those once it just fell into arguing with the Enforcer commander. More voices rose saying Dawnstar's suggested punishment was to easy on the other clan (Smokepaw also noted the repeated use of the word 'squirrels' when referring to Thunderclanners, another one of the many nicknames she had heard over the moons), then a suggestion to take a landmark (more things to explore for her? Yes, please!), a few other annoyances Thunderclan had caused like pushing Shadowclan at gatherings were also mentioned, and Smokepaw took note.

Sunsetthorn, a queen Smokepaw remembered from her rather recent time as a kit, spoke up, and the apprentice's eyes shifted to look at the golden and white molly, perhaps with a hint of curiosity in them that hadn't been present earlier. She agreed that the patrol's actions didn't seem like something Sparrowstar would have ordered, and the slightest smirk dragged at Smokepaw's lips at the proposed idea. Seeing Thunderclan's leader punish her own clan at their command and bend under Dawnstar's will... "It would be humiliating for them..." She murmured to herself. But while the idea had decent appeal to it, it still felt too nice toward the other clan. Still, it was backed up for some reason.

Dawnstar's voice rose, bringing up good points against the two cats' argument. But then there was one thing she said; you speak as if I sit back in my den and send you all out to fight for me ... As if I don't bare the scars of battle and death myself, as if my blood has never been spilled, as if I don't risk anything at all. Smokepaw had been told that leaders got nine lives at the begging of their leadership, and she also knew that Dawnstar had been a leader for a long time (Eight seasons. Smokepaw had been alive for two.). And those scars... they made Smokepaw wonder really how many battles and fights the leader had taken part in.
And how many Smokepaw would get to be a part of herself?

Dawnstar finished with a new proposition, followed up by prompting input on the idea, and right away Smokepaw could hear her clanmates' voices rise again, everyone eager to get their opinion heard. Thunderclan would be expecting something at least, and she didn't like the idea of just not doing anything, or waiting too long to do it. In her opinion, Thunderclan needed to be shown the consequences for their actions, what Shadowclan chose to do after that wasn't as important. After hearing everyone's thoughts, Smokepaw wouldn't say an immediate attack was the best choice (perhaps because she wanted time to train her skills and get some real muscles so she could participate as well as possible). No, she agreed that waiting until after that gathering seemed best, and getting to meet some Thunderclanners first would be nice.

Having nothing to add to the conversation without just repeating what someone else had said, Smokepaw remained silent, simply continuing to listen.
