The suddeness of Softsky's appearance caught Bumblebreak off-guard, but not for long. She grinned at her friend (they were friends, right?? they didn't speak often, but surely...) and hopped off of the root to nudge at her with her shoulder. "Thanks, Softsky," she said warmly.
Asterdance was the next to speak up—directly, that is, and LOUDLY. Bumblebreak felt her chest go a little fuzzy at the utter support in her other friend's cry and she quickly made her way over to them to affectionately bump heads. "Shush it, you big goof, you're embarrassing me." They weren't, not really. The pure volume of Asterdance's cheer was absolutely empowering and she honestly didn't mind if they kept it up.
Nope, no, no crying. There was a time and a place; here and now was neither.
She heard Hailhawk, Dovefluff, Darkpetal, Echopaw, and Russetpaw, too (the last of which gave her yet another nickname, she was cursed to bear this adorable burden forever, how would she ever survive), but before she could address any of them, Galekit came bolting up to the base of the tree demanding a hug. She left Asterdance to drag the kit into a playful headlock, one forepaw wrapped loosely around his neck as she wrestled him into a hug. "C'mere, pipsqueak. Now that I'm in charge, I'm not lettin' anything bad happen to you for as long as I can help it, you hear me?"
She released him after just a few seconds, insides buzzing. Stars, she felt shaky with excitement and anticipation. Things were going to get better around here, she'd make sure of it.
