Hawkbite merely puffed his chest out at the compliment regarding the pelt. He'd be sure to keep an eye out for the parents as well, but a win was a win, right? A couple less foxes to worry about later. Dawnstar seemed to appreciate that. The next part nearly took him off guard. She already had plans for him? She didn't make it easy to tell, but nonetheless, the tom dipped his head towards her. "Thank you, Dawnstar," He'd take the promotion and wouldn't ponder on it any longer. A new fire burned inside him though; part of his ambition was fulfilled and gave him a new motivation to serve his Clan.

When his head lifted again, his ears twitched with interest about her deputy. So, he was right? That made things interesting. He'd have to keep an eye out for any obvious choices. He had some guesses, but with the way she avoided the subject, he wouldn't press on. "You don't show off your assets when they aren't needed. Cats like to use it against you," Hawkbite commented, taking the compliment and clearing his throat. Now it was on to the next subject. "Yes, about Snakewither," The tom began, shifting on his paws a little.

"We've barely gotten any training done in the time you've given him to me. I did try to get him to attend the clan meeting when I was assigned Starrypaw, but he didn't seem interested. I'm hoping a patrol will jostle him out of the camp. He's shown me he can hunt, I've been trying to show him the territory and we need to asses his fighting still, but he doesn't have much interest in it right now," Hawkbite spoke with some discomfort, perhaps annoyance mixed in there. It was partially his fault, this was his apprentice after all. "I'll continue trying, but I needed you to know in case. . . something happens," Hawkbite dragged on, flicking his ears and shifting his gaze from Dawnstar for a moment.

With a small sigh, he looked back towards her, awaiting some kind of blame or need to do better. It was better to be safe than sorry when it came to this.

[Hawk is just trying to cover his tail in case Snake goes missing or training drags on too long.]
@Undertaker

With a new Enforcer under her claw, she felt a little better about nothing in particular. It was just a pleasant feeling to know she had another cat to rely on to help with stuff around the clan. She doubted the compliments given would go to Hawkbite's head, he seemed more level-headed and mature than that, but if he wanted to take pride in so be it. Dawnstar took a small pride out of her Enforcers whenever they earned their keep.

As Hawkbite explained his problems with Snakewrite, Dawnstar scowled seriously. "Whether he is interested in training or not doesn't matter, if he wanted to remain in this clan, and continue to have the security and support of a whole clan, he needs to prove that he deserves to be here. I didn't take him back so he could decide whether he wanted to take part in day-to-day clan life or not." Dawnstar growled, hoping Hawkbite wasn't being too passive with Snakewither. She's seen him snap at his own clanmates for their stupidity, she didn't think he'd be a pushover for some overgrown apprentice who decided to return after going missing. Who Dawnstar graced with a second chance.

"I don't want you to try, I want you to do. If he's not going to work and remain slothful then he can get his ass out of my clan. I'm not raising kittypets. Either make this clear to him or bring him to me and I will. If he's not going to put one hundred percent into his training, leave. There is no point in wasting ShadowClan's or your time with cats who want to half-ass everything." The Queen hated hearing it when missing cats who were granted second chances squandered them. It was insulting. "Anything else?"

Mousepaw almost deflated upon himself when he heard the leader say that she could not skin a mouse. It was true. She was bit. Massive, really. A single claw was probably bigger than most mice. Maybe. Imagination running rampart aside, he could see how she would be having problems with his prey, and he cursed at the fact that he hadn't thought of bringing something bigger... just in case.

But then! But then. She suggested that he do it instead, and... yes! Mousepaw had always been good with his paws. Ever since Fuzzy had taught him how to make nests and repair dens, oh yes. This way! This way... he could say that he skinned his own first mouse. That was even more betterer! And! And. If he skinned the mouse himself, then gifting Bigmum the pelt afterwards would be even better, as a thank you for not only teaching him, but letting him do it himself. Victory!

Actually... now that he thought about it, it seemed Bigmum liked pelts a lot. The leader seemed to have so many many furs in her den. In the darkness of the den the colors were muted, but some of them were coats of animals he did not know. Sort of looked like cats. Maybe extra dangerous predators that tried to fool cats into thinking they were them. Gasp. That sounded super scary. But... if she liked furs, maybe she would like to keep the first fur he'd ever hunted? The thought making him giddy, Mousepaw stomped his feet happily on the ground, nodding at her suggestion.

"Mouse is okay, mouse is okay! I like practicing, yes yes. And! And! If I do it myself, I can gift you the mouse and the pelt, yes yes. As a thank you, mmhmm. For teaching me, yes? Yes!" Mousepaw mewed happily, pawing at the mouse and dragging it back towards him, ready to begin as he stared at the leader with a hyper vigilant, focused gleam in his verdant hues.

| I have no idea how I lost this post. Sorry for the wait! |

Amber orbs gazed at the stomping paws with a hint of amusement in them. The funny body language reminded her of a certain ginger tom with nervous antsy nature to him. Wherever that apprentice had gotten to she hoped he returned one day. Such a waste of potential.

Mousepaw clearly had potential as well, but he seemed far too sheltered for her taste, too much of a kitten still. He'd have to grow up sooner or later, the world was a harsh place and innocence didn't last when one grew up in a feral life of a warrior. She faintly wondered what had gotten him interested in skinning. He sounded far too soft-hearted to take any interest in skinning cats. Well, Dawnstar supposed there was a practical use for skinning outside of cats.

[TW: Detailed Explanation involving gore ]

"Lay the mouse down on its belly, and use whichever forepaw you're most comfortable with or dominate with to make the cut. The other forepaw will be used to hold the mouse still, and hold the legs or the tail firmly. Unsheath one claw and make an incision along the spine, from the shoulders to the hips. The cut only needs to be skin deep, so very lightly, any deeper and you'll hit some organs and that will cause... problems."

"Well you don't have to say it like that," he huffed teasingly, but made no move to get up. Slytiger knew that she was used to being alone. Based on what he had seen from his time in ShadowClan she had a close circle of followers, but they didn't ever seem to just... be there for her. It pulled at his heart-strings to be honest. Call him soft, but everyone needed unconditional support sometimes.

"Anyways, I'm not leaving, and I won't let anyone bother you. You can talk, or we can just lay here in silence. Whatever you want, M'Love."

The Enforcer set Ivysnake's body down when Dawnstar said she would deal with it, dipping her head in acknowledgement. "Yes, Dawnstar. Whatever your plans are to make ThunderClan pay, I want to be there when it happens," she said, green eyes blazing in a determined anger. Vixensnarl would not let them get away with killing her family.

Dawnstar huffed eyes drawn to the two pelts that Wolfpeak set down, but at the moment they meant little to nothing to her. Her gaze was drawn to Ivysnake's body after Vixensnarl set her down. Hot rage pools within her boiling, gradually reaching its eruption point. She sharply lashes her tail, sending the pair away so she could seeth on her own.

Dawnstar gave a low growl in response to Slytiger's teasing but made no move to actually send him away. It's been a long long time since she's last been in any cat's company in any state of slumber or vulnerability. Seasons, since she's last had anyone share her space like this. It was strange, you started out at the nursery, surrounded by kits and queens, moved to the apprentices' den with a bunch of paws, and normally finally settled amongst the warriors listening to cats nag and snore, and if you were lucky enough, your final den would be with the elders.

It was funny how someone could actually forget what it's like to rest with someone with fearing for your life. It was sad that she had gotten used to this stupid flower enough to actually trust he'd do her no harm. "You're a strange one Tigerflower." Dawnstar grunted, shifting as she decided to make the pest useful. "Hold still." The leader demands before moving to plop her head down on the tom's flank, using him as if he were part of her bedding.

"I can't sleep with you here, but at least I can make you useful for something." She admitted. Physically, she was used to him, mentally, it would take some time for her to associate him with something she was comfortable enough to sleep beside. "Entertain me, since you disturbed my sleep. Do you have any kin?"

The ShadowClan leader was on her paws with claws out as soon as the cat came barding into her den without permission or prior warning. If she hadn't noticed the cat's wounds, she'd be getting new ones. "Do not barge into my den, Quietwing, you're lucky you're already wounded." The enraged she-cat spat with an icy warning glare. "Now what's this attack you're talking about." Dawnstar strained her ears, hearing nothing outside of camp.
