"I... I've never noticed it before," Eggpaw admitted, casting his mind back to... Well, anything that seemed to relate to his predicament. Had he ever found himself off coarse before? Maybe some time when he was a kit, or when he had been really tired? Yeah, there were a few memories wriggling about back there.
"Lemme just check something," he told Spiderheart, then started walking.
Concentrating on his limbs, the way they moved and his tail flicked, he retracted into his mind, letting his body become all, observing from within. Was that a hitch in his hind right leg? Was his left one taking smaller steps? A frown spread over his face as he concentrated on taking equal steps, taking over from muscle memory. Ever so slightly, he was changing direction from his previous straight line. He experimented for another few minutes, then returned to his mentor.
"Hey, is my right leg shorter or something?" He stuck his hind leg out to show it to her.
