When he spotted his little tortoiseshell apprentice, Alderstep quit his tired slouching to peer at her as she made her way to him. Hm. She looked tired, maybe. It was hard to tell because this one was always shyly quiet. He twitched his whiskers when he was met with the sight of her meek smile. Alderstep hummed a noncommittal sound in greeting, willing to sit in easy silence with the kid. The hour was too late to be maintaining a conversation anyway.
