Here he was, ThunderClan... Bumblestar's clan. Aster... no, Asterpaw, looked around with wonder. There were cats nearly every direction he looked, going into and out of what must have been dens, leaving to hunt or whatever it was that a Clan cat did. This was his life now, it wasn't only a dream anymore, he could really have this. In the back of his mind, Asterpaw catalogued everything he lacked skill in, he wasn't a stellar hunter, he wasn't an exceptional fighter, the most he had going for him was a fiery determination and a carefully crafted confidence in his ability to succeed. His mother had always said that pretending you can do something was always the first step to actually doing it, and he applied that same logic to what confidence and skill he lacked.
But here he was, he had succeeded in the first step, and while these cats looked rough around the edges, perhaps there was a kindness to them that he'd be welcome to see. Would he learn his skills from all of them? What would they think of him? Were they going to have a problem with the fact that he used to belong to a house? Were any of the cats he could see now former house cats?
Somehow, nerves began to eat away at the corners of his mind, and one large ear twitched nervously. Settling himself somewhere toward the edge of the crowd, not far from the entrance where he'd been led through, Asterpaw sat down and began to observe the cats surrounding him. Over here he wouldn't be in the way and he could quietly observe for now. He was sure in his decision to join, he knew he had to do this, though he couldn't tell you exactly how he knew that this was his destiny. Part of him was anguished at the thought alone of turning away now and never coming back.
An even stranger thing was that this camp seemed somehow familiar. He'd never been here before, he knew that for a fact, but some corner of him recognized this camp. Perhaps he saw it in a dream? But he'd never remembered his dreams before, so maybe the weird deja vu was just that... a weird but normal occurrence. Maybe.
