Re: RiverClan Streamstone
High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]
He made his announcement, eyes scanning the clearing below. Standing up on the stone, he had no problem seeing the various expressions on the clan’s face – though, most of it seemed to be positive. Before any of them could say a thing, some had already started chanting their names (somehow, it reminded him of when he became deputy. The same thing happened that time). In that regard, not much had changed. Until his eyes fell on Tansypaw.
Dark green gaze scrutinised her somewhat... Panicked expression, barely hearing what she was saying over the noise. He realised, much to his annoyance, that he didn’t like this doubt. It was normal, he should know, Tansypaw was still rather new. Even so, he wanted to believe his decision wasn’t wrong.
“There’s no mistake, I’m sure. You acted when the clan needed you, and I trust you’ll keep doing that.”
Sure there was a good chance the herbs hadn’t been the correct ones, but he’d been the one to say which ones to get – really, the fault came to him. In the face of that she’d only been trying to help, something that was to be appreciated.
“We can talk about this further after the meeting if you want.”
He heard Larkwing speak up; the young molly looked as bewildered as anyone, but the words coming from her mouth were filled with confidence – at least, from what he could tell. His mouth closed and eyes turned towards the grey pelt, dark green eyes trained on her as she made the declaration to help RiverClan for as long as possible. Good, now here’s to hoping she’ll stick to her words. Giving Larkwing a deep nod, eyes briefly closing, he then found himself interrupted by…
...A kit. A kit (presumably) screaming up to him that the meeting was boring. Gingerfrost deadpanned, lips pressing into a thin line as he regarded the kit with a blank expression.
“Then go play in the nursery.”
He finally replied with a flick of his tail, opting not to give the kit much more attention than that as the third and last new rank spoke up. Falconfeather.
Urk. Disapprove. Nope, he did not like that word. Oh how he wanted to tell him to shut his maw and give those better options if he really thought so, barely being able to keep back a deep sigh, but he didn’t. Because Falconfeather accepted nonetheless, and not wanting to make a show, the ginger tabby simply gave the new medicine cat a deep nod as well. At least their ranks were full now.
“Larkwing, Falconfeather, Tansypaw!”
He briefly joined in with the chanting.
...Now for the next part of the meeting.
Gingerfrost held back another deep sigh, deeper than the previous one, instead huffing out a big breath of air. He wasn’t sure how the clan would react to this, but alas, he’d rather tell the truth than withhold it again.
“With that done…”
He briefly trailed off, waiting for the clan to settle down before continuing.
“I’ve gone to the Starcave.”
As most ought to already be aware of.
“However StarClan did not grant me nine lives, nor a name. They want me to work for them – earn them. Not blatantly give them out.”
At least not to another potential disappointment, but he didn’t specify.
“Though I’m not entirely without lives, either. Since my travel to the Starcave, I’ve been given one life.”
Well, an additional one to the one he was currently living. But they could understand.
“But that barely matters. Lives don’t make a leader, and I intend on you to understand that.”
He paused, letting the information sink in.
“Despite these… Circumstances. I’ll still be going by Gingerstar, if anything to keep up appearances among the other clans. They do not need to know about this, at least not now. It’s none of their business and I’d rather keep it that way. Understood?”
