Flicking an ear as Stripes - look, these cats had weird names, how was he expected to remember what random combination of words they had chosen for each one, never mind the fact that it had just been at the tip of his tongue - spoke, Fudge's eyes narrowed imperceptibly once more. Right. So the conversation had taken a turn for the obvious. Of course he wasn't much of a chatter. He would be surprised if anything in his demeanor screamed
Please come talk to me! But then again, maybe his attitude was just as strange to these star worshipers as their behavior and customs were to him. He supposed he could cut her some slack there...
In an attempt to seem... friendlier? Polite? More receptive, really... he shrugged at her admission. It was a bored thing, letting her know it was fine as she hid her paws underneath her fluffy tail. Shuffling her paws about was fine... truly. At least she wasn't attempting to eat them. That was definitely a step in the right direction.
The conversation shifted once again, the topic coaxing Fudge to nod. Because Stripes had guessed right. He had already been on patrol by himself out hunting, thank you very much.
And he had managed to return. With prey. Therefore, he obviously knew enough about the territory to get around. Made perfect sense to him, in any case.
Ah, but his mentor had something different planned, it seemed! They were... taking him out to the borders? He'd known of one border already. The border to the outskirts. The place he first entered to find this housefolk forsaken place. But the other borders... they were those places they had to look out for those other cats, right? The other star worshippers. The ones that swam and... swam.... and... Look, he knew there were other probably very impressive skills, but he couldn't be bothered to remember them. It wasn't exactly like he was
prancing around their own little patches of hell asking to be friends.
Still... there was merit to going to those borders. Learning their scents. And maybe even making a point of remembering them. These Thunder Cats were killers. Big time, judging by Monster and the pitiful punishment he got. If these cats were killers, odds were the others were too. As counterproductive as it seemed to get closer to those brutes' homes, if he had to do it, if he had to get close to learn what they smelled like, it would be best to do so with an expert. True, The Boulder didn't seem to be around, but hey, maybe the reason Stripes had been busy was because she was so coveted she had to do everything around camp, right? Yeah, that sounded plausible enough... And he really did want to learn what those other cats smelled like. To... you know... run in the other direction the second he caught wind of them.
"Conduct," Fudge stated in an uninterested voice, getting up and stretching his limbs as he got ready for what was no doubt going to be a long walk today.
