While Spiderthroat was doing that, Drizzlecloud darted off to go and grab two more heads of marigold. The cobwebs and the moss would do good for blood clotting and stopping the blood–but they had to fight any infection that might have begun to fester, too. There was no doubt in her mind that Mudhound would end up with some sort of infection, so it was better to tackle it right off the bat.

“Good, thank you, Spiderthroat.” Although her words were muffled by the marigold as she came back–surely he’d still get the message anyway. She just managed to catch the words that Mudhound said before their head smacked the moss bed beneath them.

“Too big and strong to die, perhaps.” She correctly softly as she seated herself at their side. Spiderthroat had done a nice job with patching up their poor stump and the side of their body in extension. Still, she needed to apply some marigold. Casting a glance towards Spiderthroat, she offered him a smile, an anxious one but still a smile nonetheless. “I hope you’re okay, too. I’ll get to tending to you in a second once I finish things up here, okay?”

Honestly, Drizzlecloud just assumed that he had some awful injury that was similar to others that she had seen today–and the blood that was caked onto his pelt only supported that theory, but then again, he had been able to help her with patching up Mudhound without a problem. So, what I’m saying here is, what does she really know?

“This is gonna sting, Muddy, but it’s a good kind of stinging, promise.” She began to munch up one of the marigold heads, and she used her paw to carefully lift at the cobweb bandage that Spiderthroat had applied, just enough so that she could slip the marigold poultice onto Mudhound’s wounds. Just to be sure, she tore the second marigold in half, chewing up one half of it to apply to the other slices that made their way up Mudhound’s side, towards their hip. Once she seemed satisfied with her work, she sat up straight. “Lovely, Mudhound. You can rest now, okay? I want to give you a couple of poppy seeds first, though.”

She cast a glance towards Spiderthroat, a silent stay there, before she toddled off to grab some poppy seeds.

When Brownface arrived, she was honestly just glad to see that his condition wasn’t as bad as some other cases that they had already seen so far. With this sudden outbreak from that wretched poison, they were already seeing quite a bit–different severities and different symptoms. Thankfully, by Brownface’s demeanor and his explanation on his own symptoms, it really didn’t seem to be that bad. Still, she didn’t want things to get worse, so best to treat this right now, right? Nip it at the bud.

“I know how to help you with those burns!” She practically sang–except she didn’t, because cats don’t know how to sing. Once Brownface had seated himself in a moss bed, she toddled off to go and find some of that comfrey that she had recently found. Once she had managed to find it, she plucked one of the leaves from the herb and began to munch on it, creating a poultice in her jaws. She came padding back over to where Brownface was, and she stuck her muzzle up a bit, a silent way of asking him to lift his face so that she could tend to his burns. She couldn’t really open her mouth and ask him, cause her mouth was full, after all.

Drizzlecloud purred–for someone who was seeking out healing, this molly was quite chipper! She appreciated the different approach that this warrior took to seeking her out for help. If it were her in Nightgaze’s paws, she’d be in a pretty crummy mood right now–power to her for not letting some injuries get her down.

“Gets difficult sometimes, but that’s why we have two medicine cats rather than one, I suppose!” She chuckled at her own words before she leaned down to scoop up the half-marigold head in her jaws, munching away on it. By the way she chewed on herbs, you’d think that they were delightful–but no, they all had pretty yucky flavours, marigold being pretty bitter. Perhaps she was just good at pretending? Who knows. With her paws, she divided the clump of cobwebs into two separate piles, one being bigger than the other. Once she was done chewing up the marigold into a poultice, she kneaded at the smaller clump of cobwebs until she was easily able to pull them apart. Then, she leaned down to apply the marigold poultice to Nightgaze’s claw–or, where her claw was supposed to be, at least– and then she tugged at the small bunch of cobwebs to wrap up Nightgaze’s paw.

“And next, your leg. Can you extend your leg a bit for me? It’ll probably hurt a bit, but we have to make sure that your leg is positioned correctly for when I prop the stick up beside it.”
