It's irritating, sure, but there's likely not much Lark can do to get the truth out of her short of torture, and that's a low Lark can vow to never stoop down to.
Sighing, she says "I wouldn't be surprised if this was a ploy to pin something against us, but just to be sure and avoid further conflict, at the very least for this coming gathering, I'm going to ask that Ottersplash stay back at camp this gathering. It was your description Bumblestar gave and you'll be the one she expects punished. You can continue your duties as usual, but I'll inform her that you're to be kept under strict supervision at camp." She waits a heartbeat to observe Otter's expression before continuing. "This won't be true unless you give me a reason to believe the punishment should really fall to you. You can both go now,"
"Fighting we can work on, but I believe you held yourself exceptionally well against WindClan when they attacked," this was good news, then. Assured but Springpaw's own assurance in herself, Lark continues with her proposal. "There's some Lionheart positions open, you know? How would you like to fill one?"
Larkwing can't help but laugh at Cliffjumper's ramblings. "You're very welcome for the apprentice, as for mentoring advice... I think it's important to get to know your charge and approach training with their personality in mind." She smiles and continues on, "Bitterpaw, for example, is a bit of a handful. Hw wants to learn, if only so he can graduate sooner, so with him, more experience and paws on training is better. Mothpaw... I haven't seen her lately," briefly, green eyes cloud with worry. What happened to Mothpaw..? Shaking her head to clear the thought away, Lark forces a smile and continues on, "Mothpaw acts a lot like she doesn't care. I think she's trying to appear more competent than she feels, so for apprentice's like that, let them take the lead and correct and teach as you go."
The request, it seems, is a difficult one for Risingpaw to squeeze out, but Lark waits patiently. And it's a pretty easy thing to grant, too. "Of course I can do that, dear," she says kindly, "how about, when I organize the next round of patrols, I'll make sure to send you two out first ok? Would you be ok with another warrior joining you, or would you prefer just you and Cherry?" Cover all her bases... she'd ask about the type of patrol next, but for now she didn't want to overwhelm them with too many questions.
"Come on in, Briar," Lark invites, "what can I help you with?"

"Understood Larkwing" Ottersplash murmured. "Not like I go to zee gatherings anyvays . ." She muttered that last part under her breath.
