Pepper Bounce watched in silence as GoldFish moved closer to the springs, he as expected didn’t get an answer and that was okay. They were clearly both tired and cold. He was so tired and his heart was still pounding, every second he spent awake he felt that heaviness that was annoyingly still there grow. Drowsily he began to curl up putting his trust in GoldFish not to limp off once she became well enough and leave Pepper asleep, he went limp and squeezed his eyes shut. It’ll all be okay now! Surely? his thoughts blurred as the consequence of alll the running finally seeped into him and forced him to sleep. Just as he drifted off unwillingly ,too heavy and cold to keep his thoughts stable, he flickered his eye open and caught a glimpse of GoldFish falling asleep before finally succumbing to slumber.

Pepper bounce was still asleep, dreamless slumber, he slowly began to stir and saw that GoldFish had moved closer and had just fallen asleep again. He didn’t feel as cold as he had before, the heat from the springs was helping albeit slowly. Pepper Bounce didn’t want to drag GoldFish now that he was sure she was awake, the slice on her hind leg looked nasty, had she cleaned it yet? He sat himself up slightly so that he could watch the surroundings incase some at came over, the moment Gold Fish wakes up he’d need to be ready to go straight back to camp and if some cat tries to jump them that would be devastating. If anything he was hoping some cat would stumble upon them and run back to get some help for the nasty injury it would save them the trouble.
He kept himself alert ears perked, he was still tired and drowsy and his eyes felt heavy but otherwise that rest had been worth the time. Although his paws were sore, presumably from all of the sudden running and the scuffle he was otherwise fine, every now or then he’d shift his gaze back to GoldFish to ensure she was still asleep, before returning to being alert.

Goldfish woke up by the sound of Pepperbounce grunt. She jerked awake, then grinned at Pepperbounce. "I am NEVER going on Ice again for all the prey in the forest- or and apprentice!" she annonuced. She felt confused by a strange, tender look in Pepper's eyes.
He must be in pain, she thought. The look made her feel awkward and self-conscious.
(Although, Goldfish wouldn't know love if it didn't hit her in the face; background knowledge)
Goldfish smiled in attempt to shake off the look. "We should go to camp- Hey, look! I thought you'd wail like a kit with those scratches on your flank! Good job!" she teased, heaving herself to her paws, but to walk she had to lean partially on Pepper. She wished suddenly she could read minds. Life would be so much easier if Pepper would tell her what was wrong.
