Attempts to pry his tongue away were fruitless, and now a chill was creeping over Wolfpaw. His tongue's exposure to the elements was making it feel numb, and the lack of sensation gave him the opportunity to tear away.

The quick decision lacked pain, but.. felt weird. Wolfpaw could taste blood and see a smear on the clear rock. He decided he wasn't doing that again!

His attention was totally stolen by lil Beachkit, snuggling into his winter fluff. "... you cozy?" Talking didn't feel right, 'n his mouth was starting to ache. "dontlick" He didn't want Beachkit to be cursed by the dumb icicle too!

Cold no longer their largest concern, they could focus on the host of their warmth instead of numb paws.

Beachkit didn't understand the icicle dilemma, how Wolfpaw seemed to be struggling to pull away before successfully breaking free. It wasn't sticky, they'd already investigated a smaller one near the nursery by touching their paw then cheek to its surface.

Now the icicle made Wolfpaw talk all funny. This leafbare business was sure confusing.

"Does it taste good?" they asked, missing the point as they wondered why Wolfpaw wanted to keep it to himself with his command not to lick. "You were eating it for a long time."
