The little tom backed up a bit as Wisteriakit's paw bonked him the face, his nose stung and the kitten took a second to sneeze. Morningkit opened his mouth to reply when a different commotion caught his attention. Maplekit was attacking Wolfpaw, an idea came to mind and Morningkit took a step back and exclaimed to the other kits,

"Don't you know? Shadowclan cats are super tricky and you've been tricked!" Morningkit bounced in place, waving his tail in his theatrics, then he pointed to Wolfpaw and Maplekit, but more specifically Wolfpaw, "That Shadowclan cat wanted to distract you so he can break into camp! Spiderthroat isn't the Shadowclan cat." The kitten tried to reason with the other kittens. After a moment Morningkit continued on,

"How else would a Shadowclan cat get into the camp if he wasn't playing all sorts of unfair tricks on our warriors!" Morningkit stood still, tail quivering as it stood straight up like the rest of his fur, looking among the attacking crowd. It was play pretend and if Morningkit wanted to save the deputy it wouldn't hurt to change the story. Besides, the apprentice spooked Morningkit, the little tom reasoned to himself.
