· · ─────── ·· ─────── ·There were a lot of ways Mudslide strategically imagined this to go.
1 - This she-cat would scold her for saying too little
2 - She'd loose interest and walk away
3 - She'd insult her in traditional Shadowclan fashion. At least Mudslide would have full permission to insult her back.
Or, 4 - She wouldn't care and would keep blabbering much to Mudslide's horror.
But busting out crying? Mudslide visibly cringed, her face scrunching up in a way her muscle weren't familiar with, yet, her face held that expression like how a moth clings to its short life. Her thin fur bristled with pain as her paws pushed farther into the ground, once again reminded by their horrid itch. Crud! Mudslide yowled to herself, her white teeth revealed in a grimace. She wasn't sure what this cat was crying for, but there was no way she was about to get caught in the role of a therapist. She only listened to one cat and a few highranks, not some warrior who decided to cry crocodile tears. Oh, who was she kidding? Mudslide was wrapped up in this debacle whether she liked it or not (and she certainly didn't like it).
Mudslide hissed and backed away, her long tail curled and her legs extending to her full and abnormal height. "Jeez." Was all her wispy voice could manage as the padded ground began to wet with the tears of Cherryblossom. What was she so sad about anyways? Suck it up or shake it off. Better yet, turn all that sadness into work, focusing on fixing or stopping whatever the heck you're sad about. That's what Mudslide did anyways, that's what she had to do. Life just takes and takes and takes. No need to be sad about it. Do. Something. About. It. The world never cared for tears, they just take them and pull them back into the ground to water the plants. See? The earth itself knew better than this warrior.
She'd get over it, eventually. Maybe she'd even run away crying and leave her alone. Better yet? Mudslide'd tell her to leave. This whole situation was making her uncomfortable. "Go." Mudslide rasped, the sour expression digging into her maw. She didn't think it was possible to make her face sore. She was wrong.
