Talk slower... was he talking fast?
Did Bumba know about this, again he wondered? Was this some kind of test to see how he handled.. this kind of disability? How many ThunderClan cats trained with deaf cats?? Could deaf cats even train?
Wolfhive guessed he'd find out! He'd be damned if he let something he couldn't even see stop him. If Whitepaw couldn't hear his voice, that likely meant he needed to rely on other methods of communication.. tail signaling, maybe? He seemed to be able to get an idea of things when he saw Wolfhive's face, too. So there was that.
Once they were a bit from camp, not too far as Wolfhive didn't want to be within the owl's hunting range, he stopped and turned to Whitepaw.
"Tell.. me.. if.. I'm.. too fast." Stars, he was starting to sound like Springbee! The comparison made his heart tinge in pain.
"We.. are.. hunting. Watch.. my.. crouch.. and.. try.. to.. copy.. it." He didn't expect perfection, but figured this would be easier on Whitepaw than trying to over-explain.
Wolfhive lowered himself into a hunter's crouch, paws spread evenly and tail straight; his body above the ground just enough to not brush against it, but not awkwardly raised either. The position should feel pretty natural.
