Poppyburst understood where Stormstar was coming from. “I knew it was a risky move, Stormstar. That’s why I did it. Would you rather I have risked Goldfish’s life on that branch - or let Starrykit drown?” Her whiskers twitched irritably. “I will admit that I wasn’t thinking straight when I crossed that branch, and I’m sorry-“ Not like you’ll forgive me for it. “-but I’m not gonna apologize for rescuing Starrykit.”

Stormstar - RiverClan Leader

The blame shifting only served to ruffle the leader's fur more. Every cat on that patrol had a responsibility to report, and none of them had - it infuriated Stormstar that Poppyburst didn't seem to grasp that. "After, fluff-for-brains. After she was rescued. Stop blame shiftin' - you're a warrior just as much as the rest of 'em, not a kit who doesn't know how to find my den 'n make reports." She was half a whisker away from really laying into the warrior if she tried to wiggle her way out of blame.

"I'd rather you wait until a plan is made, or orders are given, Poppyburst. Did you not hear anythin' I just said? 'M not askin' you to apologize for rescuin' Starrypaw. 'M tellin' you the next time you're reckless 'n go against orders like that, you'll be Poppypaw. Now get out of my den." Stormstar gave a lash of her tail to indicate for the she-cat to leave.
