Damp and cold didn't go very well together. Now not only did she feel weirdly sticky, but now she was sticky and cold. Fun.
She held her tail high and her head up as she trotted into the mire, trying to ignore the terrible texture beneath her paws. Mushy and muddy. Mudslide usually didn't mind textures that much, but snow in particular, paired with dirt, made her wildly uncomfortable. She couldn't help but cringe a bit with each step.
Once she believed she reached a good spot, with bundles of borage in view, their purple flowers slightly browned, she stopped. She then turned to Duskpaw. She had heard a bit of their ranting, so she believed she would now have no problem holding herbs. Plus, from what she heard, Squirrelrise had offered to help. But, if Duskpaw wanted to get prickly, Mudslide didn't mind bursting a few bubbles.
Mudslide usually wasn't one for engaging in conflict she wasn't involved in, but a cat being prissy for no reason on a patrol she led was not something she would exactly stand for, even if it did earn her a few horrible looks of acknowledgement.
Without a word, just a simple thrash of her long and plumy tail, she was off. The roots were her first target, since she assumed they'd be harder to find.
After trotting and sniffing the air, she found the odd plant, standing tall with a head that looked like a burr, it's tall frame gathered among others. It was now or never.

Maybe she'd just gotten too cocky, because she uprooted the plant too harshly. Not only did it break, but it also went flying before it landed right at her paws. Carelessly, stupidly, she reached for the plant by the root, unaware of the awakening she was in for. She knew she couldn't use the herb, yet she picked it up regardless, hoping to maybe commit it to memory.
But then her maw started to tingle, and she couldn't feel her nose nor the top of her tongue. H--- what? She spat out the herb as quickly as she could, but the feeling didn't leave her. Great... Just great. If there was one way to go from selectively mute to completely mute, this had to be on the list.
Oh well, these effects, just like those of stinging nettle, had to go away at one point or another. She would've warned her clanmates about the roots numbing affects, but her tongue was lightless in protest, and she couldn't form her words.
Gosh darn it...
