So many apprentices, several having narrowly survived the event that'd taken so many others, getting to return to a normal life at last. And yet Mudhound could muster no joy at it, no wild cheering as they usually did. Nothing.


The most the tripod could manage was a look towards Quackpaw, who they'd grown fond of in their shared time in quarantine, and a nod before the swaying of their sister caught their attention. For once heart wrenching moment Mudhound was certain Bumblestar would fall, would crack her head open on the rock of the crest, would break her spine on impact, and Mudhound will have lost everyone she loves in her life.


No though. For once there was salvation for an impending loss and before a tragic fall could occur Spiderthroat was there, reacting faster then the hornets battered form could, and snagged the leader in her time of weakness.
It was clear, Bumblestar could not continue to lead the meeting, this much Mudhound did understand.


Heaving themselves up the skinny maine coon took Bumblestar from the deputy, the size difference between the two siblings no longer comical but heartbreaking, and swiftly carried Bumblestar away from the stormcrest and the eyes of the clan. It wasnt taking the leader away from the meeting entirely of course, but the corner was sheltered and soon Bumblestar was wedged between the fluffy form of Violetfreckle and Mudhound, who placed their giant form between their sister and the clan and (in a rare and perhaps disturbing act) bore their teeth and glared at anyone who dared to try and speak or bother Bumblestar when she needed peace.


Violetfreckle, the leaders mate and Mudhound, her sibling, had Bumblestar. Everyone else could focus on Spiderthroat for the rest of the meeting and leave her alone.
