Vixenkit's frustrated hiss and unhappy growling has him wilting. Has he messed up so badly it can't be fixed? Oh, he so hopes not. It's a nasty, nasty feeling that builds in his belly, like every unpleasant thing there is, stuck in his gut and weighing him down. His ears burn, but he doesn't slink off to his nest to hide like he almost wants to; more than that, he wants to know what he should do to fix this. Nightshiver's glad that he's okay, but Cuckookit's still stuck on the unfairness of it all. At least if they were both hurt, he might not feel so guilty. Oh!

It's right as Cuckookit's offering a paw out, about to insist that the other kit bite him—here, hurt me back and then we'll be even—that her queen makes a far more sensible recommendation. The nest-tiger is already on the move, so Cuckookit's not sure if she'd really like a mouse, but he's willing to try it.

"Okay. Thank you for helping and for being nice." He tells Nightshiver softly, dutifully
reciting the good things she did so that she knows she's good for them. Even queens need to be told when they did a good job, right? Then a little louder, called after the limping kitten: "Feel better! I'll get you a mouse!" And if that doesn't work, then he'll let her bite him. That will make it right, surely.
