Mountainspring lay in her nest, washing her pelt, when a shadow overcast the nursery floor. The silverpoint queen paused her grooming and looked up, her ice-blue eyes narrowing against the sudden darkness. Nettlesnout's familiar pelt became the focus of the queen's vision, and she let out a delighted trill, her tail waving behind her.
''Nettlesnout! You've returned!'' Mountainspring exclaimed, giving a friendly purr. ''I'm glad to see you. Why don't you settle down in your nest and I'll find you kits, all right? They'll be thrilled to see you.''
