rowanmane snorted at her comment, jokingly rolling his eyes. “uhuh, I ain’ scared of nuthin’” he joked, a soft grin on his face before he got to his question. “ya…y’know starrypaw? ‘f course ya do…ya were there that…unfortunate day…” sympathy filled his blue gaze as he sighed, remembering…wisty coming back crying…scared, he and owls were both assigned to round up the rest of the kits. that was a rough day for the clan. the day ElderKit passed, much to soon, much to unfortunately. and starrypaw—her sister—was left alone in this large world. “the kids been through a lot…she doesn’ seem t’ trust much n’ I don’ blame her. she…she n’ wisty got closer after tha’ n’ then I started talkin’ t’ the kid. she seems…more comfortable aroun’ me, n’ I wanna ensure her wellbein’…” his speech probably wasn’t needed…necessary in any way. but rowanmane felt it was. he was passionate about his job as a warrior (hell, a lionheart now) and the clans next generation. “her mentor disappeared from what I’m aware n’ I was wonderin’ if I could take charge of ‘er trainin’ instead?”

it was just a joke …

fury rang through rowanmanes ears as his tail lashed, staring down the apprentice. luckily, before he could respond irrationally, owls decided to speak up…that was for the best. his attention dragged back to the leader carefully. he agreed with each word she said…it wasn’t funny, how could a cat even justify that as ‘just a joke’?! the lionheart nodded slowly as the leader gave her jurisdiction, agreeing completely. “‘f course, anythin’ t’ protect the clans young…” and the clan in general, he refused to let them crumble from the inside out…and he refused to let them be destroyed by any other source. rowanmane dipped his head kindly before turning around and signaling goosekit to exit, and he’d subsequently follow.
