I’ll be expecting a lesson on predator hunting after I receive my battle lesson from my mentor, I will come and find you.” On top of the rest of Rosekit’s expectations of Flintclaw, you would think she was naming the warrior her mentor before Bumblestar even gave her the ‘paw suffix. She flicked her tail before moving onto the hunting crouch once more.

“Thank you very much for the feedback! I’ll be sure to bring it up to my mentor so I can be properly taught the different forms.” Flintclaw seemed to be more knowledgeable than her original observation suggested, perhaps she should keep an eye on the warrior and bring him to Bumblestar’s attention for any vacancies in the Hornet team. ( She refused to talk to the head Hornet at this time. That tom has lost his respect in her eyes and didn’t t seem keen on making up what he did to her and her family. ) Of course, whatever promotion the warrior may receive would just have to wait for Rosekit to be in a hornet position first.

“Why would medicine cats need dangerous plants? Aren’t herbs meant to.. well, to heal?” Rosekit questioned, raising a small paw to tap on her chin in thought before it dropped, “Perhaps that would be a question for the medicine cats instead, could you tell me about what herbs you’ve gathered? And what they look like so I can have reference for my future patrols. Oh! Also are there any herbs that are gathered more frequently than others? If you’ve noticed that is.”

How many questions could this brat fit in her little head? Flintclaw preferred experience over being explained anything. However, he started to realize he didn't mind explaining how clan life worked. It was forcing him to remember information that was either automatic and completed without a second thought or things that he really hadn't trained on for many moons.

But, stars, why did she talk so much?

Flintclaw gave a small nod to acknowledge her "appreciation", though it didn't really sound like a thank you despite that being the words out of her mouth. He partly hoped that she'd forget about him teaching her anything about fighting predators, but he had to remind himself again that it would be an opportunity to provide that training to Dizzypaw, as well. Two foxes in one den, so to speak.

"You're right, that is a better question for Wolfhawk or Hollowpaw than me. It is their specialty." He replied calmly. He must have done a better job than he'd thought at hiding his distaste for Rosekit, specifically, if she was so hard set on continuing to ask him more questions. And, to think, they still hadn't touched on Battle patrols... though, that one was pretty simple.

"You should already know about cobwebs and moss, which are some of the most frequently gathered and well known items within the medicine cat den," The dark tabby began to accept his fate of forever answering to neverending questions. "It changes more frequently than you would think for herb gathering patrols. Tansy, Juniper, poppy, horsetail... Those are the first that come to mind." Flintclaw narrowed his eyes, trying to remember what each one looked like.

"Tansy is is a tall, green stalked plant with jagged leaves and yellow flowers with petals so dense they almost look like the heads of mushrooms," Oh, this was tedious. "Juniper trees have needles instead of leaves, with dark blue berries that could be mistaken for blueberries. Poppy flowers are usually red, with wide petals where you can clearly see dense seed clusters in the center. Horsetail can be either green with spiky needles popping out of most of the plant, or just a green and brown stalk with the bulbous, brown top that almost looks like a pinecone."

Did he have any idea what any of them did? Well, everyone knew poppy seeds were pain relievers... but outside of that, herbs were pretty much a mystery to Flintclaw. They were far outside his scope of knowledge, he just knew what a few of them looked like. Even with that, he relied on the medicine cat showing him what each plant looked like so he could better identify anything he was looking for.
