Weepingpaw's ears lifted as he listened to the tom ahead of him talk. He was saying a lot, unfortunately, the apprentice's attention span waned a bit. But he got most of it down. He slid into an easy crouch, he's been practicing since his patrol a bit ago, and worked on creeping forward. His paws were too loud, he noticed when he got spooked by a stick breaking underneath his paws. Upset with himself, Weepingpaw repositioned himself and tried the stalk walk again.
It really wasn't all that different than when he was creeping during hunting, don't make noise, don't let the prey smell you, and so on. Weepingpaw bent so that his belly brushes the ground and kept his head as low as possible, so that his chin nearly touches the ground. His movement in control bursts, his paws didn't come down as heavy as he slowed down his stalk, but he faintly wondered if he was moving too slow.
Annoyed, the apprentice turned and watched as one of the others vanished into the shadows. Wait, so they didn't have to practice; they could just play in the shadows? Weepingpaw hadn't lost track of what the warrior had been saying after he started practicing on his own. Deciding to follow the other apprentice's lead, Weepingpaw dropped into a more comfortable crouch and merged into the cold embrace of the darkness near a large tree, finding a delightful comfort in the shadows.
