The sound of Dreamy’s wail just about shattered him, but he forced himself not to turn around. He felt like if he did, leaving would be that much harder. But his ears swiveled back sharply at Hickorysmoke’s comment. Acornfall couldn’t help a laugh, whether it was lighthearted or not was hard to tell.
“Aye, we’ll have each other’s backs out there.” He mewed at his patrolmate, gently correcting him. The proud warrior in him didn’t need protection, the smart warrior in him knew they needed to work together.
He chuckled at Moth’s words, jostling her back playfully.
“Nah, not goodbye.” He purred, looking back at Bri as she called her prayer, and Breezey cheered for them. Waving his tail to her in return with a grin.
“It’s more of a see you later. We’ll come back.” He meowed, giving Mothflame a confident nod and grin. He flexed his claws in response to her question, stretching the muscles in his paws.
“Yeah sis, I know. We’ll take care of those damned beasts.” He agreed, resisting a backwards glance at his family.
They
have to clear those demons out. He needs to make their territory safe again. He wasn’t foolish enough to think it was be easy, but hopefully with the intel from the previous patrol they’d be able to at least chase the beasts out.
“We’ll make sure that otters everywhere know not to underestimate ThunderClan!” He declared, partly trying to pump himself up in preparation for the oncoming battle as they waited for Spiderthroat to join them and share his tips.
