Dovekit paused mid-bath to raise her head towards Bumblestar's meeting call, paw still gingerly suspended in the air until it settled atop the ground with a sense of finality. She watched. Listened.

Outwardly, she was a statue. Blank expression, green eyes blinking with muted curiosity. The news hit her without shock or fanfare, merely absorbed. Noted. As if some especially clueless creature had told her a leaf was blowing across the clearing. For a kit with limited life experience, it was an announcement that held little meaning.

Until it did.

Dovekit peered to him, anticipation thrumming like a low vibration as she awaited his move. Her quiet interest lingered under layers of emotional armor built over the cost of the same achievements Bumblestar had listed in proclaiming his worth as a deputy-turned-leader.

A starkly different role than father. But probably one he would do better at.
