Flintclaw sat down on the edge of the clearing, a wide yawn splitting his maw. The phantom ear burned as it twitched again. Still mind boggling to him. It crossed his mind to speak to the medicine cat about it... but Treetiger made his skin crawl and Dragonflypaw probably didn't have any training yet. He wasn't even sure either of them would be able to tell him just how long the phantom ear would last, or if it would go away at all.

He peered around the clearing as he sat, fluffy tail curling up and down in a slow, rhythmic motion. There was quite a bit he needed to figure out. He needed to check in with the apprentices and make sure their training was going well. He needed to make sure to organize patrols in a timely and effective manner. Ensure no one was acting out, especially in a time where Thunderclan's high ranks had so suddenly changed. He needed to figure out who in the clan he could trust with leading patrols. Figure out who was who and what they'd made of themselves over time. Get to know the hornets better, especially Risingstorm.

Now that he sat an thought about it... He wondered what had led to his own promotion, instead of Risingstorm? It seemed an interesting choice. Not that Flintclaw was complaining. Spiderthroat was perfectly capable, as far as he was concerned, to make whatever choices he pleased. There wasn't a time that the dark tabby could think of where the new leader had failed the clan as their deputy and he doubted he was going to start, now.

Suffice to say, thunderclan's new deputy had a lot on his mind. So much so that he forgot that he wasn't allowed to be in the clearing without someone approaching him in some form or fashion, even before he'd become a high rank.
