But now he just didn't feel like talking about such personal matters, especially with Snowsong. Finchcall was aware that she was deputy, and she was only trying to be helpful, but that didn't change the fact that she was relatively a stranger to him.

Sure she seemed nice, but still.... Besides, what was he to tell her? Just rant about some depressing things that had been happening to him? Did she really care that his brother died? That a cat he cared for deeply chose a medicine cat apprentice over him, and then she just disappeared? No, that didn't seem like anything he could tell someone when they've just met. He was sure if he told her this, she would back up slowly from him and simply not bothering with the tom anymore. I know I should have more faith in her. She is the new deputy. But information like this can not be lightly told to just anyone.

He let his gaze observe her, looking the molly up and down. I guess if I knew her better, then she would be the perfect person to confined in, he finally concluded. Finchcall was sure that she was actually a good cat. In fact, she had a warm air about her that made him feel a bit relaxed. They had just officially met and he could already tell how friendly she was. If he had know her better, he was sure that he would entrust her with such personal subjects.

But not right now....

The was a hesitated before the warrior answered. "If you have something to say, then you can talk if you want," he began, stilling playing off that there was nothing wrong with him. "But if you don't want to talk, then we can be silent. You could bring some prey over," he gestured his tail towards the fresh-kill pile in the clearing. He was intimidated to be accompanied by the deputy, but he didn't want to come off too rude to her. He could tell that she wasn't about to leave him alone due to knowing that something was actually wrong with him. He wasn't going to talk about it just yet, but if she did want to talk about something to him then he would listen, and if she was to sit and silently eat or something then he would be alright with that as well.
Snowsong nodded and gave a small smile to his words. "We can talk if you want, or you can talk. Im a good listener." She winked at him before standing, shaking out her short, almost prickly white fur. "And good idea. I'll go get us some food. Im not busy at the moment so I have time to sit and talk." She gave him a warm smile, then turned and trotted off toward the fresh-kill pile, her ears pricked.

She wondered what the Tom could be upset about. Did he lose someone? Was he sick? A frown pulled at the corners of her mouth as the thought crossed her mind but she shook it off and let her eyes rake over the fresh-kill pile, padding closer to it. She was at a good pace, but thinking made her slower than usual. I wont make him tell me.

But, She decided as she walked, head high. I can get to know him, and see if I can cheer him up. Thats what matters, and I hate seeing cats upset like this. She was hoping to turn ThunderClan around, to help Gyrestar start a new, better era. What with everything that had happened so far, the fire...

We lost Fernpaw then. Snowsong's ears twitched, and laid back against her head. Her steps faltered for a second before she continued forward. Her sisters death had taken quite a toll on her for the longest of times. She wasnt sure if she would ever really get over it, but she knew that Fernpaw would want her to. Her sister would want her to become a good deputy and maybe one day, leader. But that wasnt important, not as important as serving her Clan to the best of her ability. Thats what Fernpaw would want.

And then there was the Evil Era. Just thinking about it sent shivers down Snowsong's spine. Ratnight had been a cruel leader, almost destroying the Clan. Snowsong recalled the battle with SkyClan, and still couldnt help a faint prickle of guilt. That was the first time she'd ever fought for another Clan, and she wasnt sure she would ever stop feeling bad about that. Though, she couldnt exactly regret it....After all, more blood would have been spilled had SkyClan not won. Had StarClan not won.

And after that had destroyed Snowsong and her siblings. Blackstorm had turned, switching sides in the blink of an eye. She would never forget that, what her brother had done. Killing their father, driving Honeyfur and Eternal out of the territory out of guilt, and then leading Snowsong, her siblings and friends out of ThunderClan into a wasteland, no food, no water, they almost starved. They would have, if not for Honeyfur and Eternal's return. They'd finally chased Blackstorm, Goldensky, and Oakmark out of the territory. She hadnt seen them since.

And then Splashheart had left ThunderClan to go to RiverClan. Snowsong had to smile, shaking her head. Her sister had made the right choice for herself and her kits. No cat should grow up without parents, Snowsong knew this better than anyone. They'd made it to apprentices without their parents, until Roarclaw finally showed up with Fiercestorm and Swiftbreeze. It had been a day to remember, but Snowsong couldnt get it out of her head how Splashheart had been so silent, how Blackstorm had been so cold. She had been so confused when Blackstorm admitted to killing Fiercestorm, and even more confused when Splashheart snapped Swiftbreeze when her mother hadnt respected her decision to leave. But Snowsong had sat, she'd thought.

Now she understood.

Snowsong let her breath out slowly as she reached the fresh-kill pile. The thoughts fell out of her head almost instantly, hiding away for another time. Snowsong lowered her head and grabbed two squirrels in her maw by their tails, turning to head back to Finchcall. In any case, Snowsong wanted everyone in her Clan to be happy and safe. Starting with this Tom. Life was a story, right? Everyone deserved a happily-ever-after.

With a smile, she made her way back over to him, her ice blue eyes warm and friendly. She would make sure, no matter what, that ThunderClan's story had a happy ending.
