So, he sat there, swaying his tail and staring at his mentor. He would listen to anything Storkflight wanted him to do. The tom looked possibly young himself, and Tigerpaw knew that he was his first apprentice. Maybe, he shouldn't be such a nuisance? The apprentice couldn't help it, though! He wanted to run and to fight and be in battle. A battle...he wanted to fight in a major battle, and possibly die having his name remembered. That would bring him into a happy matter that he helped his clan fight a battle--will they win, will they lose? Anything of the sort. He just wanted to be remembered. And, besides he needed his head cleared from thinking about Desertpaw, or Stormp-wing. Stormwing. It was a pretty name, and as he thought about it, he knew it fit her well. He would have to go pay a visit to her sometime. But, maybe she was busy? The tom didn't want to disturb his friend. ''Okay, okay. I get it. The boring stuff is important. You made your point.'' The tom flattened his ears to his head for one second before they perked back up.

One thing that the tom did excel at was stamina. He loved running and jumping. Having to practice it in his down time so he could get better. Now, this was the fun part. And, it was something basic that he needed to learn? The tom hopped around for a bit, a bright grin placed on his maw. He nodded his head rapidly at his mentor, and awaited until he could start. As the line was drawn, the tom stretched his limbs, turning to his mentor he said, ''Prepare to be amazed!'' He stated confidently, before he sprang high enough and landed a good distance away. He stared questioningly at his mentor. Was that good enough? ''I think we both know that I'm ready for some good lessons here! Kits can do this!''

Storkflight shook his head disdainfully. Was he this annoying when he was an apprentice? Was this the reason Drapingdrop had left him behind? For all he knew, yes, this could have been it. But he would have treated his brother the same way. So, who would he rather be more like, Drapingdrip, and abandon his annoying apprentice, or like Bakeskip, and deal with it,ntrain him, and help make him great? Obviously, he would choose the latter, as he vowed to never break a promise like that, not after seeing what it could do to an apprentice. His only worry now, was that a similar situation could be arising in Owlpaws life. He didn't wish that on any cat, as it felt horrible if a mentor abandoned you, it made you feel lost, rejected, lonesome, and incompetent. He didn't want that for any cat. But could Tigerpaw learn? He could he eventually comprehend that the most basic moves, were often the most used? Storkflight was sure, that eventually, he would understand, but the sooner the better. He could see the look on his face when he agreed to do it. Maybe, what astorkflight needed to do, was to make it more like a competition, or more exciting. Something to get Tigerpaw to enjoy it more. Maybe this cat didn't work by being lectured to, maybe he worked better in actually doing things. Of that was the case, then Storkflight would have to get to think fats, of a way to gain Tigerpaws attention.

He smiled though, as he watched him jump. The leap looked almost perfect, even like one of an experienced warrior. He was impressed with the skill that he was showing, just by that one jump, but he wouldn't let that stop him from teaching the basics first. "That was great Tigerpaw!" He praised the apprentice, a broad smile covering his maw, as his blue eyes twinkled in happiness. "Now, how far can you jump? You showed me that you can jump from the line, to the pebble, but what is your limit. I bet you can't make it to.......here." He said drawing a line about two tail length away from the pebble. That but the length at three fox lengths, maybe this could be an opportunity to connect with him.
