Singefeather's Interview
You pad out of the trees. "Good morning, Singefeather. I hear you've decided to apply for Shadowclan medicine cat?"
He jumps as he hears the your voice. He turns to see the you staring at him with "Why, yes," he says. "I have."
]"Good. I'm here to ask you a few questions," you say. "Let's start shall we? Why do you want to become the medicine cat?"
"Well, I guess it just appeals to me,"
the tabby answers. "Yes, I wanted to become a warrior, but that was before I appreciated the medicine cat's in full. I'm interested by the herbs, and sometimes, I would go in just to help out shortly after I earned my suffix."
You nod. "Now. How would you describe yourself?" you ask, interested now.
"I guess... well, some cats call me jumpy," Singefeather starts, "and others call me outgoing. I don't really agree with either of those. I'm what I call "in the middle." I'm not shy, yet I don't want to converse with every cat I meet. I'm not that energetic, and I can focus quite well. I've got a good memory. I may act kind,
But I can snap at you if I want to," he adds with a chuckle. "I also like making jokes. Hey, what do you call-"
"No time for jokes," you interrupt quickly.
"I have to keep this short, I don't have a lot of time. So, next question. What do you think are some flaws about yourself?"
"No time for jokes?" He wrinkles his nose at you. "Oh, if you say so. Well, I suppose some flaws are... oh, I'm always reciting stuff off, I stick to the warrior code like fur on a squirrel, and I guess that annoys some cats. Some cats say my jokes are terrible." At this he rolls his eyes. "As if! Anyhow, I'm always doing this little thing with my paw..." To demonstrate, he hOlds up his paw and moves it in a circular motion. It makes a small popping sound.
You wince at the noise. "All right, moving on. How old are you?" you continue.
"Well, I'm 204 moons old." He grins.
You heave an exasperated sigh. "For real.
Come on. I don't have time, I've got to get back to duties." You give an approving nod as he says, "24." "Thank you. Now. What would you say are some good qualities about you?"
"Good qualities, eh?" He ponders this for a second. "Well, I'm a light sleeper, so I wake up immediately if there's any threat. I mentioned before that I had a good memory. I'm also quick on my feet."
"Those are good," you agree. "How about some fun facts? Relations?"
"Fun facts, huh?" he answers. "Sure, why not? My prefix was chosen for the black streaks on my pelt. My suffix was chosen for me, after my mother, Featherstorm.. My friends call me "Singe" and my best friends call me "Singey." My mother died when I was 8 moons old, due tO greencough. I have one sibling named Blazingsoul. They definitely chose his name right." He laughs, not noticing your raised eyebrow. "My father's name is Nightwings. One of my favorite quotes is "Do not set something aside for tomorrow which you can do today" and, by me, "Lying is the only true poison. It shadows the mind and destroys the trust." And I think that's about it. Oh, although my favorite prey is vole, and my favorite scent is honey, and my favorite food is honey." He pauses, his amber eyes glistening. "The honey is calling!" Singefeather bounded off without another word.
You watch him go. "I guess that discussion is over," you snort. Then, calling "Thank you for your time!" to Singefeather, you walk back to your own camp.
