Quillpaw was much too amused and confused to offer help, but he also figured the other cat didn't really need help. After all... there wasn't all that much water in the shallow part of the river. He could only stare at the stranger.

His sharp gaze was on the brown tomcat as he climbed from the shallows. Quillpaw couldn't look away, wondering if the tomcat remembered he had an audience. He was much too confused on whether or not he should he should make his presence known, so he settled for remaining where he was, waiting for the other tom to realize he was there. Quillpaw would've normally shrunk away from the shaken off water drops, but he feared just an ounce of movement would somehow betray him. Betray him how, you ask? Yeah, no clue.

Finally, the stranger turned around, and Quillpaw had to admit that the brown-pelted tomcat was very handsome. The other tom reminded him of someone in similar appearance, but he couldn't be sure the cat before him was related to Russetstar. His fur rose on end when he met the stranger's gaze, and he offered a threatening hiss. After hissing, though, he tasted a watery, fishy scent blanket his tongue. Lightening up, Quillpaw let his fur relax, and he adopted a cheerful expression. He chuckled nervously, before meowing, ``Oh, I - uh, hadn't realized you were a RiverClan cat. I'm Quillpaw!``

His tail waved behind him, a sign of friendliness. And the huge grin on Quillpaw's face supported his obvious joy, which radiated off him in waves. He was always happy to meet new friends. And meeting a friend with such a unique beginning was sure to promise a fantastic future! The two apprentices were both unknowingly looking forward to a great future.
The russet-colored apprentice flicked his tail to rid it of the last drops of water, then focused his yellow-green gaze on the apprentice in front of him. As the other cat introduced himself, Spicepaw had time to full take him in. Quill paw was pretty good-looking in Spicepaw's opinion. In the past couple if moons, the tom had realized that he was more attracted to males than other genders. It was also another way he was like his father. Spicepaw seemed to be exactly like his father in every way, except for their personalities. That asset of them is where the two tons were pretty much polar opposites. "It's okay, my Riverclan scent isn't as strong as it should be yet." Spicepaw meowed, a neutral expression on his face. He wasn't the one to smile too often, although that didn't mean that he never smiled, he just didn't do it much. He would normally only smile at things that were worth smiling for.

Spicepaw then realized that he would have to explain why his scent wasn't as strong as it used to be. But might as well tart with introductions. "I'm Spicepaw. And I'm afraid of water." The tom meowed, casting a glance back at the river and shifting a little bit farther from it. "I know, I know, I'm a Riverclan cat, and I shouldn't be afraid of water. But if you've been through what I have, you might be afraid of it too." Spicepaw explained, focusing his gaze on the apprentice in front of him. The tom was just being fully on blunt, saying it like it was. He would usually never announce his fear of water to anyone, but Quillpaw had seen him struggle in literally a moue-length of water, an Spicepaw figured he deserved an explanation.

Quillpaw seemed so smiley and happy, he reminded Spicepaw of his father. At least when he had known him when Spice was a kit. "Not sure if you have heard, but my mother, Shellfeather, and I, have just returned to Riverclan after being swept away by the huge storm six moons ago." Spicepaw meowed, a bit I a distant look overcoming his features. He then shook his head, clearing that look off of his face. "And yes, my father is Russetstar, and my sisters are Cricketpaw, Rabbitpaw, and Applethorn. So I come from a pretty well-known family. With a lot of girls." He told Quillpaw, snorting a bit with laughter, a small smile flashing on his face. Maybe that was why Spicepaw had become attracted to males. Because he was constantly surrounded by the females of his family, so all she-cats had started to just feel like sisters to him.
