He especially loved the way the sun set in it, casting it's brilliant rays across the crystal-clear surface. Too bad that it was sun high right now, but the pond would still be beautiful, with how clear and glassy it was. And the babbling stream that flowed into it, the sound was always a comfort to Spicepaw. He was kind of a contradiction there. He was afraid of water, but he was comforted by the sound of it. I guess that's just one of the perks of being a Riverclan cat, through and through.

At Quillpaw's realization, Spicepaw couldn't stand the tone of his voice. This cat was supposed to be happy and care-free, and Spicepaw was supposed to have a good time out here with him. And he would make sure of that. "Don't worry, I didn't have any favorite places when I was your age. You just have to find them as you grow older and explore more of the territory." Spicepaw hopes he had convinced the younger tom. Especially since his words were true.

As they continued walking, Spicepaw decided they could try and make small talk. "So, um... What type of family do you come from?" It was the only thing that popped into his head. He knew families could be a touchy subject, he'd been there, done that. But if Quillpaw was willing to talk about his family, then Spicepaw would do the same. "I come from a very large family." Ot was true. Spicepaw did have quite a large family. Just a lot of them had died. Especially his siblings. Who he could just call his sisters, since he really had no brothers. Something that Spicepaw didn't mind much.
Quillpaw brightened at Spicepaw's assuring response. He glanced up at Spicey, admiration and excitement gleaming in his eyes. ``Really? Well, I guess it's okay not to have a favorite place right now. Actually, y'know what? RiverClan territory is my favorite place, mhm! It's my place, too, so don't you try taking it from me.`` Quillpaw was incredibly easy to convince. His tone had gone from excited and cheerful to cheerfully threatening as he spoke the final sentence. He had attempted to be as threatening as possible - which wasn't very threatening - but he ended up giggling.

He didn't remember the names of Spicepaw's kin, or who he was related to. Quillpaw had forgotten, even though it's only been a few minutes since Spicey told him. He jumped happily, his paws scraping up a couple clumps of earth. Family! He loved family! ``Oh yeah! My family is small, unless you count everyone like cousins and aunts! Then it becomes pretty big! There's my father, Frostedhawk. And my two brothers, Foampaw and Mudpaw!`` He didn't mention his mother, because he didn't want to think about her much. Frostedhawk had never brought up his mother, and he had never asked. Yet it did bother him some, unless he didn't think about it - it bothered him when he thought about it. Strange how Quillpaw came from a family of males, and Spicepaw came from a family of females. He giggled softly at this thought.
