The Molly couldn't help but feel sympathy for her friend. "I don't want you to feel awkward around me. I want to help you out. That's what friends do." she stated. He's my friend. No he's not my friend. He's my crush. I just wish he could see that.

The Siamese felt a rush of heat as Marigoldflower's nose almost touched his own, and for a second, he was about to lean fowards and make the contact. But then he stopped and shook his head inwardly, hovering there for a moment, eyes gazing into her own and almost searching for an answer before he pulled away. Froststing knew better. It was dangerous to get so close, he might have actually touched his nose to hers and then where would they be? Not friends, that was where. It would make her uncomfortable. It would make him uncomfortable. And Froststing wanted to remain friends with the attractive feline, not scare her away through being... well... weird. His optics flashed with annoyance, but he didn't dare voice it aloud. "I'll be alright, Marigoldflower. It's just... a minor problem, nothing serious." Realizing that it did sound like he didn't trust her, the tom paused for a moment and then glanced back at her as though he were considering whether to tell her something or not. "It's just a little bit personal. That's all. And I - I do trust you, but I think I just... need some time." The feline added, as though that were all she needed to know about his "personal" situation.

"You can't just stop being stressed out or stop stressing out. You only have so much control over things. Ever since I became deputy I've worked as much as I could to keep that title, and that takes a toll on cats. I can't just, plaster on a smile and just pretend that I'm happy so everyone around me will feel good. I'm not exactly happy right now. Our clan will soon be at the verge of starvation!" She lashed her tail. "Sometimes, you just can't be happy. You don't have the time. I'll be happy when I want to be, right now I just want to hunt." She sighed and walked past Hawkfeather.

No one ever took the tabby that seriously. And, it seemed that their deputy was no different. Of course Hawkfeather was never offended by the way that others treated her, and the way Bubblestep spoke didn't bother her in the slightest. Although she was worried for the she cat's welfare. "Well, Snowstar obviously trusts you! Or you wouldn't be deputy! And, we all like you, Bubblestep. At least most of us do. Besides, the harder you try to keep winning approval the harder it's going to get! You can't keep it up forever." The feline mewed, and then thought for a moment. Starvation? Was it really that serious? Come to think of it, it had been a little while since the fresh-kill pile had grown much, and cats had looked pretty unhappy. But as usual, Hawkfeather lived in her own little world. This was why she was glad she wasn't deputy, she would never be able to deal with how stressful Bubblestep made it sound. "Oh, okay! I'll come with you, it'll be easier to hunt with two cats. Okay with you?" The tabby was partly following the other cat, waiting for a response before she decided to either go another way and try to hunt again, or keep on going with the deputy.
