The gray she-cat perked her ears at Stoneheart's question. "Oh, um, let's go on a walk first. We can go back and hunt, later.", she replied. Crowsong, you should've put first things first and hunted for the clan.., a voice in her mind told her. But, I need to be with Stoneheart, first, even though we're still with each other when we go hunting.. But, I love him... I could never let him down... He probably prefers going on a walk with me rather than hunting.., she thought. The voice in her head didn't reply back. There was an eerie moment of silence. But, then, a rustling in the bushes next to them broke the silence.
"Crowsong?", she heard a voice calling from the bushes. A lithe black tom was padding towards her. Crowsong's fur bristled and she drew her lips back in a snarl. She grew calmer, her fur lying flat, as the tom got closer. "Father? I thought you were dead!", relief and hope flooded through the gray she-cat as she stared at her father. "Who's this handsome tom with you?", her father asked, looking at Stoneheart. "This is Stoneheart—my mate.", she replied.
"You're mate? Hm..", the black tom meowed, inspecting Stoneheart. "He seems like a perfect match for you, my daughter.", he said. "Obviously, Father..", Crowsong sighed. "Come on, Stoneheart, let's go on a walk. Wait, Father, what have you been doing all this time?", she asked. "I've been living as a loner...", he mewed. "You have?", she questioned.
"Yes, I have.. You two better get going, now. You don't want to be late for your trip hunting and then going back to camp without anything.", Crowsong's father chuckled, turning around, padding back into the bushes.
